Scott Embry’s Friday Mount Barker Preview Posted on December 29, 2022December 29, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DARK ASSAULT did a mountain of work as a 100-1 pop last Saturday at Ascot in a 72+ 1500m behind The Velvet Queen and Casino Seventeen. Drops back into a c70+ and while 1200m might be on the sharper side for him at this stage of his preparation he looks ready to win. Great race for him. MR MT WALKER is double accepted for Sunday at Ascot but this looks a far easier assignment for him. Rarely seen in these country ratings races and must be respected. SNEAKY FOX is on the 4 day back up and will look for the top. KENDEL’S MEE DAD continues to race well and is always a chance at this level. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – DARK ASSAULT WIN RACE 2 ETHEKWINI has her first start in WA for Lindsey Smith. Formerly trained by Danny O’Brien where she finished third in a BM70 (~58+) and third in a C1 and a BM64 (~52+). This looks a nice starting point in a country C1 event and she has had two trials to prepare her for her WA debut. Liked both trials and from the draw gets every chance. This is not a deep field and her best is more than good enough. BETOKEN doesn’t win out of turn but from the inside gate should get every favour. FLY BETTER ran two really good races to start her preparation. Keep safe. URBAN WARRIOR peaked on the run last start. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ETHEKWINI WIN RACE 3 PROMISED BRIDE was scratched from Wednesday at Ascot to save for this. Paul Roberts trained a double at that program and when you’re looking at a small boutique yard that’s a great indication that they’re going well. Barrier the obvious concern but she has some ability. ROSE OF DENMARK lead them up at Kalgoorlie when finishing third behind Ruling Dame and Red Hot Goods. That reads up very well for a Mt Barker maiden and Roy Roger’s yard is flying. HOTLIPS LIL was only fair last start at Narrogin. Previous runs were solid. PILBARA SONG will look to jump and run. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – PROMISED BRIDE WIN RACE 4 LOOK HERE PUNK had his first start for Samantha Faithfull when finishing second to Rubanna Star. Further back in the field was God’s Moment who came out on Boxing Day at Albany and destroyed them in a maiden suggesting that it’s a form line worth following. Should only improve second-up and looks the testing material. BONAMICO looked destined to do it tough on paper last start and yet the punters still launched him. Not far from a win. GIFT OF THE HEART ran third in the Rubanna Star race just behind Look Here Punk. PLAYING RIO has shown enough at trials. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – LOOK HERE PUNK WIN RACE 5 HIGHFRIAR has turned the clock back and hit some form. Jon Jachmann’s have been going great guns for months and Highfriar has won two of his last three. With Prince Ragnar and Little Punga likely to go out hard and fast looking for a horse to park in behind them and gun them down late. Highfriar fits that profile. PRINCE RAGNAR was a different horse last start with the ear muffs on. Hard to run down if reproducing. LITTLE PUNGA is drawn underneath him and is likely to sit prominently throughout. Never far from the action. TREVELLO gets a nice run midfield and should be ready to peak. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HIGHFRIAR WIN RACE 6 KIMBERLEY BOY has his first outing for Steve Wolfe. Finished second to Capital Flight when resuming last preparation and then finished second in Kalgoorlie to Long Weekend who was on an unstoppable winning spree at the time. Should be a handy Great Southern sprinter. SHAKE BABY SHAKE is caught between grades. 61kg is a lot of weight to carry but she’ll fire out and sit up on speed throughout. LUCRATIVE LUCY is thriving on being ridden for pure speed. LUVACHAT comes back to 1100m. Not an easy horse to ride or follow but has ability. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – KIMBERLEY BOY WIN RACE 7 NATURAL SPICE wasn’t able to find the front and control the race on Boxing Day. Looks far more comfortable when allowed to roll along out in front and get them chasing from the 600. Was an all the way 1900m winner at Albany off 44 days when last in work so see no reason why he can’t roll straight to the top and run them off their legs in an 1850 at Mt Barker. Like him on the back-up. DUCHEES DEMERIT won a 52+ 1900 at Narrogin last start in a race where they were rolling a long way out. This is very winnable for him. LOSING TICKET is a track distance specialist. SCREAM IN BLUE is building. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – NATURAL SPICE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4,8,9,10,14 1,3,5 1,2,4,5 2,5 Market Market
