Scott Embry’s Friday Leonora Preview Posted on October 6, 2022October 6, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SYRIANOS looks to have found his race. Gains the services of talented country rider Peta Edwards (last 180 days = 143 rides for 22 winners at 15% strike rate and 12% POT) and is a versatile animal who really caught the eye behind Maidmy Way on Hannans Day. ZULU MAGIC the stablemate could be the danger. Hasn’t had a lot of luck so far and can improve. KING OF THE JIVE is quick but has been stopping really badly on the dirt. DYNAMITE GREY might get out the back early. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SYRIANOS WIN RACE 2 REUCOOP and MIDNIGHT BLACK look likely to pair off in this 56+ mile. REUCOOP was beaten the narrowest of margins in the Meekatharra Cup behind Majora’s Mask beating home Mt Magnet Cup winner Calling Card in the process. Turned back the clock and showed some of the 2020 form. MIDNIGHT BLACK is the obvious danger. Has been beaten margins recently but in better races than this. LAYLO has struggled since joining Kylie Craig’s yard so far. Looking for improvement. BETTER IN KIT is having a crack at the mile. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – REUCOOP WIN RACE 3 ABOARD is racing well below her best but this is a huge drop in grade for her. Gets out to 1400m, drops out of C2 racing at Kalgoorlie and Esperance and should be peaking third-up. 5L off Eevalina, No Whispering is clearly good enough to be winning one at Leonora. MISS BRIGHTON is no world beater but is going well enough to be winning this. Finished third behind Snow Princess (winner of her last two) and was only 5.5L off Grated Coconut and Snow Princess at Newman. Winnable and Peta Edwards jumps on at the right time. SECOND CHOICE has been racing consistently for 6 months and while he’s deep into the campaign he continues to race well. SALCHINO is a maiden but could be better suited in these class of races. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ABOARD WIN RACE 4 OLD BAILEY should be too quick for these. Six starts ago in a 58+ at Kalgoorlie lead and won beating Hilton and Long Weekend. Since then Hilton has won a Coolgardie Sprint and Long Weekend has won another 5 races. Hasn’t been able to lead and dictate since and should be able to fire through from the inside gate and see out the 1200. TUMUT RIVER is saved up for all of these small outer country meetings and invariably runs well. SNOW PRINCESS takes on the toughest opposition she has seen in recent weeks but is in great form. THE FINEST an improver. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – OLD BAILEY WIN RACE 5 FLYING ARABIAN finally broke through and won the Meekathara Sprint by the length of the straight (7.13L officially). Expecting that Angela Johnston will take a similar approach into this race, jump and run and roll into the corner. Catch me if you can type of horse. WHIM CREEK was only 5L off Short Talk, Cold Shizzle and Bin Shalaa in a 64+ on Hannans Day. May have been aimed up at this. SCORELINE might find the 1200 a bit too sharp. CAPE SOUNION always a chance at this level. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLYING ARABIAN WIN RACE 6 NICKLAUS looks the one in the 2022 Leonora Cup. Beat All In Red and Major’s Mask in the 2021 Leonora Cup second-up coming off a 5L defeat first-up in a C5 at Northam. This preparation finished 5.5L off them on Cup Day behind Prize Pursuit in a 58+ Westspeed Platinum and now attack the Cup second-up again. Think he’ll prove a bit too classy for them late. THE DIVIND WIND can find the front and control the race. MAJORA’S MASK is a Country Cups specialist and had to dig deep last start. O’REILLY’S CRUMPET hit the line from a mile off them in the Carnarvon Cup. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – NICKLAUS WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,4 1,2,3 2,6 2,4 Market Market
