Scott Embry’s Friday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 24, 2022February 24, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NOT A WORD went to Belmont Park last start into a maiden handicap (transferred from Narrogin) and finished second behind Strike Now. Strike Now went around favourite in a C1 at Pinjarra on Sunday and was unlucky not to go very close. Goes to Geraldton and can come across into a nice position over the speed. Gets his chance as a 7 year old. HERO OF THE DAWN was backed as if unbeatable on debut. Opened $2.40 and jump $1.55. Didn’t fire a solitary shot and was left in Geraldton by the Adam Durrant stable. Will punters follow up? SPINALONG TIME is very quick. Expecting her to be on a jump and run mission. MEGA REWARD has been there abouts all preparation. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – NOT A WORD WIN RACE 2 MINNO is double nominated for Thursday at Pinjarra and Friday at Geraldton. If they scratch from Thursday to save for this then they look like being rewarded on paper. Chased hard first-up behind Parlare who had metro maiden form against his name and looks like he could measure up midweek. Minno is drawn the perfect gate and this looks even thinner. KALAKAUA has been going well this time in. Long time maiden who lacks a killer blow. I CAN SEE CLARA finds a new home. Showed a bit early but form really dropped off. SURVEILLANCE was the target of massive money last start. Punters Plz. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – MINNO WIN RACE 3 STARTRADE should just keep winning while he meets the same pool of horses week in week out in Geraldton. Almost getting to the ratings and weight point now where Kim Anderson will have no choice but to bring him down to Perth but for now you can understand why they’re keeping him at home and just filling the boots. Genuinely believe he could measure up in a 66+/72+ at Ascot and in time we’ll see. TRICKY TRIX meets him 1.5kg better at the weights and is flying but he showed his class last start and she was no match for him. MINUS LOOKS chased hard fresh. CASUAL TRADE an improver. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN RACE 4 COLOUR ME QUICK has been a great pick up for Allan Hughes who is enjoying another wonderful season (Team Kennyluck). She comes across, she pours pressure on and she tries to run them into the ground. See no reason why she can’t get across and make a race of it again. OLIVIA KNOWS is 29 days between runs and on the fresh side but her last start effort at 1400m in a C2 behind Choice Command and Chix Chatter was excellent. Preior to that she did however finish behind both Take Another Look and Colour Me Quick. TAKE ANOTER LOOOK has been freshened. MOUNTAIN ASH was good last start. Seems to be improving now. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – COLOUR ME QUICK WIN RACE 5 SKIPPING DIGITS went down narrowly last start behind Eliminate. Was expected to win ($1.85) but in hindsight if a ready to race Eliminate showed up it was always going to be a test for him. Eliminate was once considered a 3 year old Features type by Neville Parnham. Regardless he gets a wonderful opportunity to bounce straight back for regular rider Clint Johnston-Porter and make it two from three. BE SEATED is really starting to knock on the door. Is relatively versatile and can be ridden forward or midfield. GRACIEBIRD finds a new home. Beware Sean Rains fresh. POPCORN TENDER should improve sharply with a far better gate. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – SKIPPING DIGITS WIN RACE 6 HONORFIC is flying for Peter Daly. The query is the 40 day spacing between runs and the fact that he is drawn in barrier number 10, but if it is turned into a high pressure mile then he’ll be right there as last man standing. Love the way he’s going since the blinkers went back on. YANKEE LIMA was allowed to stride last start and in review the chasing brigade simply let Jerry Noske control the race and never made their moves to try and shut the gaps. First 1000m was run only 0.5L faster than C2 average. They just left him alone for way too long. Will they let him get that far in front again? DASHING IMAGE should get a soft tracking run. STOCKTAKA an improver second-up. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – HONORFIC WIN RACE 7 MASS EFFECT was probably one run short last start. He was allowed to find his feet out the back and then made his run when it was too late and was eased down over the final few strides. Like the way he’s building and these staying races in the country can throw up a result from time to time. Worth a ticket at double figures. BLACK MONEY is an out and out stayer. Kate Southam knows him well and rides him better than anyone. He’ll be coming hard late again. STRONG HEART loomed the winner in the same race before blowing out late. SOVIET SPY is one paced and will need to get marching from the 800. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MASS EFFECT EACHWAY RACE 8 ELIMINATE descended upon them last start and returned to racing for the new yard in a blaze of glory. Drops 2.5kg off that win and if Skipping Digits wins the C2 earlier to prove the form then she’ll be popular in the last. Always promised a lot and now could be ready to deliver in the country. CHOIX DE LACE is honest and consistent. She needs to draw a barrier in her races and needs them to run along at a genuine tempo so that she can be right place, right time at the top of the straight. Think she gets those conditions here and she’s always an eachway chance in this grade. Went close last start and gets 1kg on Gessato for a narrow defeat. BOYISH drops 5kg after the claim of Jett Stanley. His jump and run pattern should be suited to Geraldton racing. THE WITCH DOCTOR sweats on a start. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 6 – 14 Suggested Bet – ELIMINATE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,8 1,5 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,6,9,10,11,12,(14) Market Market
