Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on December 9, 2021December 9, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HALATORION’s new owners probably thought they’d just head down to Albany, put a senior jock on and fill the boots with an easy kill. This is much, much deeper than your average Albany maiden and as a form reference if you finish in the first 6 or 7 it’ll put you in good stead for your next outing. The third at Albany two starts ago reads up very well now with both Pro Is Here and Can’t Get Enough saluting and most recently was far from disgraced in a metro maiden behind Seduce Me. KUTSANYA was a 6 year old on debut when finishing third behind The Velvet Queen and Uni Queen. That form now looks super with the later winning in style on Sunday and the form through the winner on show on Wednesday at Ascot. SHAKE BABY SHAKE did nothing wrong on debut and only improves with experience. MY RANI has ability but like Millivoy tends to do a bit wrong. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 15 – 12 Suggested Bet – HALATORION WIN RACE 2 KNOT SECRET looked like a Saturday horse early in his career. Should still prove mighty hard to beat in an Albany maiden. Think he’s still a nice horse in the making and his recent form behind The Lady Is A Vamp, Ponyo, Safety Fuse and Advanced reads up very well for this. MOUNTAIN ASH is double nominated for Thursday Gero and Friday Albany. If he starts in Albany on Friday he gets the run of the race and showed above average ability as a 2 year old. ACTING GOD has had 8 starts, 6 top 3 finishes and a fourth. The query is starting to emerge as to whether he’s just a chaser and lacks a killer instinct and the will to win. Mitch Pateman goes on and he’s drawn to get every conceivable. EFREET attacked the line last start. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – KNOT SECRET WIN RACE 3 CLASSIC ROGUE like Knot Secret in R2 is another that Steve Wolfe has been racing in town and now brings down to Albany. Third in the Westspeed Platinum Final behind Nowhiteflag and Holy Enchantment. Now back to Albany where he’s won all 3 career races. Looks hard to beat. SCHOOLWORK was super first-up behind Worth A Risk and then got a long way back and couldn’t really get to the outside to build the necessary momentum when finishing third behind that same mare and her stablemate Chasing Chaos last time out. Should be peaking third-up. CHASING CHAOS is an old marvel. He’ll pinch another race or two this preparation. SUN CHACEN is building and starting to race a bit more consistently. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC ROGUE WIN RACE 4 KENDEL’S MEE DAD lumped 61.5kg in the Tabtouch Regional Championship Final: The Road To Ascot on Winterbottom Stakes Day. Once he finds form he holds form and from the barrier he should get every chance. Drops 3kg and should only be improving into the campaign. WORTH A RISK is looking like a great acquisition for the Great Southern yard of SJ Wolfe. Won back to back races and now stepping into this grade for the first time gets some weight relief. Hard to fault. TOLLMAN is a very capable galloper. Is a 78+ winner at Ascot in November 2020 and first-up was only 5.5L off Comfort Me, Proconsent and Bad Wolf. 61kg after the claim is an ask but his overall form is simply superior to rivals. No surprise to see him win this. MIRACLE MAN toyed with them at Geraldton. $3.10 into $2.20 and simply dominant. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – KENDEL’S MEE DAD WIN RACE 5 MEDELLIN was excellent last start with 60kg. Stays in the same grade, drawn a far better barrier and should enjoy the right run to win this. Fair few horses in this field who look like they’re struggling for a bit of form at the minute and Steve Burton’s boutique yard is going well (two wins for Heart of Coeur). This is his chance. KITGUM is well placed back into these types of races. Has been more than competitive in 60+ Graduation’s in town over the years. Drops from a 70+ back into a C2 and is still a legitimate chance even with 62.5kg from the outside gate. CONVALESCE is capable of going through the grades in Albany this season. MAGIC OF ZEUS an improver second-up. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MEDELLIN WIN RACE 6 CAN’T GET ENOUGH is going to be an all or nothing commodity for Roy Rogers. Looks like she’s the kind of mare who will lead and win or lead and run last. Don’t think there’s much in between for her. QUINTUS can box seat on the back of her and get a lovely tow into the race. CABLE BOY looked better at the trials. Not sure where the Cable Boy of early 2021 is. COPPING POINTS has a big weight to carry in what’s anticipated to be a high pressure race. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – CAN’T GET ENOUGH WIN RACE 7 COCKYJOY is coming from exclusively Saturday Ascot/Belmont racing down to the Great Southern. Like the fact she’s been given a few weeks between runs because she’s been in work for a long while but ultimately, she is a 66+ winner as well as placed in a 72+ behind Tycoon Storm and Lorentinio, fourth in a 66+ behind Iseered Iseered and All Day Session and beaten 4L at WFA behind Too Close The Sun, Tellem We’re Comin and Samizat. Has to be hard to beat at Albany in a 58+. CLASSIC MAGNUS has come back to racing well and seems to be thriving in the care of Peter Western. SAX ON QUE should get a nice run along the fence. CHOICE COMMAND is handy enough on his day but can be hit and miss. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – COCKYJOY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,6,8 1,2,5 1,3,5,6,8,9 2,4 Market Market
