Scott Embry’s ANZAC Day Ascot Preview Posted on April 24, 2024April 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TRUE APOSTLE won well on debut when getting up inside of a brave Rainline late to score. Everything he produced in his trial and on race day suggested that 1400m would be right up his alley and thinking here that he’ll take beating. Barrier 9 of 10 not easy but if he can get across to the breeze from his wide draw then he’s the one to beat. TACTICS and SPICE IS RIGHT both come out of a Saturday 1000m race. TACTICS was strong late and SPICE IS RIGHT could easily cross to the fence and dictate terms in this. SNIPPERANDO ran well behind True Apostle at 100-1 fresh and gets a 2kg weight swing for a 3L defeat. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRUE APOSTLE WIN RACE 2 RISEANFALL won a 3 year old 0MWLY last start so this C1 is actually a ‘drop in grade’ for her. She rises to 59kg and she’ll have to absorb plenty of pressure with Just So Sassy, Magic Belle, Miss Flirtacious and Exporose all having tactical speed but provided she steps cleanly she’ll give newly senior rider Brandon Louis options. Handy filly. STEVIE’S MAY trialled well behind Generosity at Lark Hill leading into her first outing for Jason Miller. She’s the half to Burnya To Survive and she’s got ability. Danger. MISS FLIRTACIOUS won well albeit at Narrogin. Showed great early pace. CAPO VELOCE hasn’t produced his best in a while. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – RISEANFALL WIN RACE 3 DANCE BOSS and FOREVER CLASSIC went head to head last start in a C3 1200 behind Star Power. There was basically a neat length between them on the line and there’s only half a kilo in favour of FOREVER CLASSIC. Thinking that DANCE BOSS has found another great race after trialling well at Lark Hill, running well first-up and should get every opportunity parked leader’s back. No cutaway this time so will need to find a gap. FOREVER CLASSIC is more than capable of turning the tables. She’s got versatility and she’s a proven weight carrier. DEETEA had excuses fresh and drops back to a C3. LITTLE SILVER can jump and run when she steps. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – DANCE BOSS WIN RACE 4 LEGACY OF TARA has 60kg on her back (career high weight to date is 55.5) which coupled with barrier 10 of 11 will put plenty off, however, she’s run third in a 66+ 1200 and placed on two occasions in 60+ Graduation company. Excellent placement by Sue Olive and if she shows the speed she did in her barrier trial she should get across to breeze outside Star Power. Big respect. STAR POWER has now won three on the bounce and the form could look great if Dance Boss or Forever Classic win Race 3. SOLAR SYSTEM is better suited back in grade. ZANGIEF bolted in first-up. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – LEGACY OF TARA WIN RACE 5 SPECIAL VIEW hasn’t won a race in almost 500 days, however, he has contested exclusively Saturday races for nearly his entire BK Racing career. His last 11 are in higher grade and he’s snuck back into a 0MWLY with a barrier. Only 2L off Sisu Warrior and Rokanori, only 3.4L off Hesket, Desennea and Oly’s Choice. Has to be competitive here. JAY DEE can attend to the speed with only 53.5kg on her back and give cheek on a day that should really suit. LUCKY’S WAY was a big improver last start. Awkward draw though. MADAME MAGIC likely scratches for the Sheila Gwynne Saturday? Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL VIEW WIN RACE 6 EL PATRON is much maligned by punters – hasn’t won a race in over 660 days and yet tends to go round short regardless of where they run him. Back to a C1 – tick, blinkers back on – tick, and maps to sit over the top of the speed on a day where it could be difficult to make ground – tick. There’s actually plenty to like about him on Thursday. One. Last. Chance. VALDARENA parked three deep at Pinjarra on the Scarpside and sustained a big run from a long way out. Love the way she went about it and gave the indication that she would be capable of working her way through the lower grades. HIGHLAND FLAIR was brilliant first-up in a 60+ Graduation. PULL THE TRIGGER broke his maiden in a very thin race at Geraldton. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – EL PATRON WIN RACE 7 TIN CHOOKS went from a 66+ beating the likes of Sowar/Lord Gannicus/Pray Again into the Old Comrade at Listed Level and yet was astutely plunged in betting by punters. $8.50 into $3.50 in an avalanche of support he extended powerfully late to win soft. This race is far deeper with the addition of all the Listed Cups types but he’s the horse on the rise. Why can’t he win again? GHOBELLA gets in on the minimum, can sit closer than most and loves the Ascot 1800. WHAT A PRINCE has 54kg and will likely be left alone in front for a long way. CURRIMUNDI won the Albany Cup in style and Shaun McGruddy rides him over River Rubicon. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 13 – 6 Suggested Bet – TIN CHOOKS WIN RACE 8 ALLEGRO SONATA was brave last start when three deep the trip behind Truevinsky and prior to that was a gritty winner over 1600m. Senior rider back on, in form stable, lovely map and will go around eachway. She can come out positive, allow Rommel’s Jeuney to do his thing out in front and track his every move in running. Sets up really well for the mare to go close again. KNOCKONEBACK is dropping out of the WATC Derby and gets 3kg on Do It Right from their recent encounter when narrowly defeated. STOP DREAMING bolted in at Narrogin from last with 61kg. Some win. GOD’S GARDEN can be forgiven for one uncharacteristic shocker. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ALLEGRO SONATA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,5,7 1,2,3,7 1,2,5,6,7,8,13 2,3,5 Market Market
