Royally high expectations for Autumn King Posted on October 9, 2025October 9, 2025 | Posted by TABtouch As Sydney’s Spring Carnival hits full stride, anticipation builds for the next chapter in a remarkable racing dynasty. Autumn King, the well-bred colt by The Autumn Sun, is set to make his Sydney debut in The Tap-Craig, marking his third career start and a significant step up in class and exposure. Autumn King has already shown promise in his first two outings, placing in both starts and impressing in trials. Trained by Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich, he’s yet to break his maiden, but his consistency and pedigree suggest it’s only a matter of time. His arrival in Sydney brings fresh excitement, especially given the recent exploits of his siblings. Autumn King is the latest in a line of rising stars sired by The Autumn Sun. Two of the stallion’s progenies have lit up the racing scene this Spring: Autumn Glow and Autumn Boy. Autumn Glow, the unbeaten mare dubbed “Baby Winx” by some, delivered a dazzling Group 1 victory in the Epsom Handicap at Randwick, overcoming a wide draw and even a lost shoe mid-race. With seven wins from seven starts, including the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes and Group 3 Toy Show Quality, she’s now being aimed at either the Golden Eagle or the Empire Rose Stakes. Autumn Boy stunned punters with a dominant Listed win in the Tattersall’s Stakes at Eagle Farm, remaining unbeaten until his Rosehill debut, when he ran a narrow second to Sixties in the Ming Dynasty Quality. He continues to loom as a serious contender for the major three-year-old features this season, including this Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Guineas. The Autumn Sun won that race in 2018. Autumn King’s entry into The Tap-Craig isn’t just another race, it’s a proving ground. With the spotlight now on him, the question is whether he can match the brilliance of his siblings and uphold the reputation of his sire. His performances so far suggest he’s ready to rise to the occasion. The racing world will be watching closely. Can Autumn King claim his crown in Sydney and continue the family’s Spring dominance? One thing is certain: the expectations are royally high. Market Market
