Royal Ascot Day 5 Preview – David Shortte Posted on June 24, 2017 | Posted by David Shortte It has been another magnificent week of Racing at Royal Ascot and on Day 4 Gun 3 year old Caravaggio put himself to the top of the pile. His victory in the Group 1 Commonwealth was nothing short of first class and he now appears a huge chance to take part in the $10 million The Everest in Sydney later this year. He is unbeaten after 6 starts and Aiden O’Brien suggested overnight there is a lot more still to come! Best Bets for Day five at Royal Ascot are as follows: Race 1 Number 16 : September Aiden O’Brien and Ryan Moore have had another superb week and they can kick off the final day with another winner. September is a 2 year old daughter of Deep Impact who was most impressive on debut winning over 1400 metres at Leapordstown. Should prove the testing material. No flash odds at $2.15 but looked one of the better chances on the card. Race 4 Number 7 Limato Won two Group 1’s last season, one over 1200 metres and one over 1400 metres. Relishes firm going and looks the one to beat in the Diamond Jubilee. Rated a $3.30 chance on the Fixed Odds with TABtouch. Race 6 Number 12 Qewy Ran a stellar race in the Melbourne Cup last year when finishing a game 4th and surely that sort of performance stacks up very well in this. At the current quote of $6.50 the win and $2.40 the place looks a great each way play. Thomas Hobson was a fine winner earlier in the week and is the clear danger. I will be backing Qewy each way and taking Qewy and Thomas Hobson in Quinellas and Trifectas. Good punting to you!
