Race 4 LAST WEEK with the place on side

Very keen here with the “double golden switch” LAST WEEK going from apprentice to in form Jye McNeil and inside barrier to 7 of 10 here after being “stuck” on the fence last start behind the tiring BOOM TIME and losing all momentum as CHOUXTING THE MOB had full throttle. Note the market was $2:50 v $13 for a reason, and LAST WEEK was having his first distance run this prep while the winner was rock hard fit. Confident he’ll turn the tables, but a bit wary of PACODALI. As such keeping the place on side.

Race 7 HALVORSEN win save BAM’S ON FIRE

Pretty keen on HALVORSEN but BAM’S ON FIRE is going too well to lose on if she wins. HALVORSEN has clearly the best 1200 form in the race with an excellent Moonee Valley win in January over Hawkshot, and then went even better when 2nd to TIN HAT at Caulfield. Last start showed the straight is no concern beaten a nose by rock hard fit GYTRASH over 1000 which is a bit short for him. If he brings his A-game he should win. BAM’S ON FIRE is on fire winning all three starts this prep. Yet to produce a big overall time, but she should still have a big peak here.

Race 8 SURE KNEE win

Filly having her 3rd consecutive run at Flemington, but the 18/05 head 2nd to the flying FIDELIA in a high pressure mile, was in total contrast to her last start when also getting back, but in a significantly slower tempo. She was $2:10 for a reason in that race, but given no chance from where she settled in the run after an early check. Monster jockey change of Newitt off for Williams riding for the title, and from barrier 5 doubt he’ll be worse than mid-field. If she brings what she did two starts back only bad luck can beat here. If she doesn’t it’s a raffle!
