Oli Cownie’s Monday Pinjarra Preview Posted on July 8, 2024July 9, 2024 | Posted by TABtouch Race 1 Tricky little 2YO race this one to start the meeting. IT IS CRUNCH TIME (8) showed promise in his first campaign. Two good runs closing late in both the Heat and Final of the APG Sales series. Trialled competitively behind Hold The Ammo who appears a smart youngster. CRUNCHEE (2) showed some gate speed last race start but was unable to cross there. Has the draw advantage and looks the most likely leader in the race. RUN BOB RUN (4) has been thereabouts in all six of his career runs so far, missing the top four just once. Put in an uncharacteristic bad run two back when dropping but, happy to forgive the one bad run. He was a really eye catching fourth in his run three starts ago when dashing through late in a sharp last quarter. DAMAGE DONE (12) this well related horse appears to have ability. Went around a short priced last race start and made an early error. The only start he hasn’t made an error on debut he made up good ground behind Mysta Moon Walker late in the race. Tips: 8 2 4 12 Suggested Bet: IT IS CRUNCH TIME (8) each way. Race 2 DREAMBIGAIMHIGH (3) is a horse that’s previously shown above average gate speed and draws outside two moderate beginners. Appears to be a horse with a short sharp burst of speed, without being able to sustain it at this stage. Was suited in his previous start with the handicap advantage over key rival HOLD THAT GOLD (8). He was himself an impressive first up winner off a 30 metre handicap and looks suited back to the mobile, despite the awkward draw. ELEGANT PEAK (9) was faced by a 50 metre handicap on return from a spell, did well to finish 22 metres off them. Much better suited back to the mobile and raced in stronger company last time in. MAJESTIC MARION (6) was a winner last start over two key rivals she takes on again here. Much less suited back to the mobile and looks a tricky draw to navigate. PEACHEE (7) flew off the mobile two runs back before firing up badly in the run and giving ground late. Back to the 2185 suitable, can play a part if she improves her manners. Tips: 3 8 9 6 Suggested Bet: HOLD THAT GOLD (8) win Race 3 GOGGINS (3) was sent out an odds-on favourite last start at Bunbury, lead and tired to be beaten a long margin. Trialled up impressively for a race of this nature leading in behind Sweet Pins who won impressively last week at Pinjarra. ROLLING IN CLASS (1) has shown good gate speed previously and draws ideally in gate one. His recent runs have had a lot more merit than the beaten margins would imply. IDONTWANABEAPIRATE (5) is a horse that has a few tricks. From gate one last start did everything right showing he is learning. IT AINTEASY (6) made late ground her first two outings. Despite the awkward draw she looks a hope. Tips: 3 1 5 6 Suggested Bet: ROLLING IN CLASS (1) place. Race 4 ALTAR (6) is faced by an awkward draw over the mile. He was very impressive last time out when third from near last behind Vinnies Star. ITSOKTOBEGREY (1) is a horse with plenty of tricks. Last race start showed moderate gate speed before galloping and was sent back to the trials. Was inconvenienced and broke first attempt but trialled satisfactory on his second go. Would like to see him do things right before taking a short quote. CONTROL QUEEN (2) has been impressive in her last two placings. Moved up stylishly outside Dekla Diva two starts ago and battled right to the line in an effort which would see her competitive in this race. SWITCH BLADE (7) hasn’t made much impression his last two outings when well beaten, although he has had tricky draws to navigate. This draw looks no more suitable, but it a mile and appears a more moderate field than a few he’s taken on in recent times. Tips: 6 1 2 7 Suggested Bet: ALTAR (6) to win. Race 5 INEEDA DRINK (9) closed strongly last start to challenge for second in a race dominated by Sweet Pins. He follows a horse at the start that generally begins well, should be close enough in the run. JUST A HAPPY MAN (1) his last two efforts have been quite good for this type of race. Finished fourth two runs ago in the main beaten bunch behind Sugar Covered before closing late in the race won by Sweet Pins. EBEE AVIATOR (8) held on well for second after showing gate speed early. Showing her versatility in Maiden grade she was able to hang on for third breezing two runs ago. INTERNAL AFFAIRS (6) found herself breezing last start first up after seven months. Likely to be better for the run. Tips: 9 1 8 6 Suggested Bet: INEEDA DRINK (9) win. Race 6 ARTFUL MIKI (6) won in good style last time out after obtaining the one out one back trial. He clearly appears the one to beat despite a wide draw. ROLLYOUROWN (2) has a number of recent placings to his name and appears to be racing in good style. He has good gate speed, looks a race he can find the pegs. A few weeks between runs the slight query. MAJOR CLASS (9) was runner up two back behind Resolution from the outside back row draw. Didn’t have the clearest passage last time out and was finishing off well enough once clear. KINSAABI (10) Chris Lewis jumps aboard in this race. Found himself right out the back last start and only finished off fairly still looks one of the main contenders for the minor money in this race. Tips: 6 2 9 10 Suggested Bet: ROLLYOUROWN (2) to place. Race 7 BETTERTHAN SECRET (9) trialled up quite impressively behind Infinite Merit, battled away into second after they ran a slick last half. Lead last time out in a Lightning Lap and didn’t shirk the task into a close up fourth. HAVING FUN (8) contested a much stronger race won by Caberneigh last start, she will appreciate racing the against the fillies and mares again. She follows a quick beginner, likely to be close enough. SPIRITOFANANGEL (7) is a mare that’s never too far away, highlighted by her twenty career placings. She is often doing her best work late. The wide gate and near month between runs are queries. PRINCESS MICKAYLA (11) contested a strong race at Gloucester Park last time out won by Flybye Lou, she was shuffled back there and made good late ground into third. Despite the draw this looks a race she’s capable of taking out. RADIANT BAY (10) was a competitive third behind Bonne Armour and Pecunious last start. Start prior closed strongly late to take out a lightning lap race, this company looks no tougher. Tips: 9 8 7 11 Suggested Bet: BETTERTHAN SECRET (9) win. Race 8 ROCK ARTIST (1) on top by virtue of the fact it has stepped and lead from the inside draw. Comes into this race first up after two fair trials. CODENAME MARCUS (4) galloped away from his first stand start last time out, despite the early error scored an impressive win from back in the field. Should be better for the experience. DOURADO (6) checked and broke at the start last time out which he can be totally forgiven for. His recent efforts in stand starts have been impressive with placings behind Paroquet and Northview Dance. FRANCO MECCA (5) returns from a spell without a trial. Took on stronger company late last time including Skylou and Never Ending, this looks a more suitable assignment. SPORT SPORT SPORT (3) steps out for her first stand start. She stepped slowly but safely in her trial and can figure in the money minor with the right run. Tips: 1 4 6 5 Suggested Bet: DOURADO (6) each way. Race 9 LOMBO MITCHINSON (1) was able to win the Trayning Cup last start sitting in the breeze outside of Prince Of Pain. This looks tougher but he’s aided by the inside draw and I think he has the gate speed to dictate the map in this race. ROCKET CITY (2) returns after 7 months without a trial. He’s a quality horse that contested some of the top 3YO races last time in, should he be anywhere near peak fitness he looks hard to beat. FRISKY STYX (9) returned to the winner stall last time out in an easier race, third up from a spell he can go on with it here. XCEPTIONAL ARMA (5) lead last start and got quite fired up, was beaten by the premier 3YO filly Water Lou. Start prior was good into second in a similar race to this at Pinjarra. SOHO FIRESTONE (8) has failed to make much impression after getting back in his last two runs. Suited by the softer draw in this but will need to lift off recent efforts to be a winning chance. BLAZE ON (3) was a winner of back-to-back races at Pinjarra in May, he lead in both those races which is a query in this race. Tips: 1 2 9 5 Suggested Bet: LOMBO MITCHINSON (1) to win. Race 10 GULLY GUM (11) lead last start and was beaten for speed late in the race by Sorridere who ran well again in a much tougher race Friday night. He can be put into the race and looks the one to beat. MACCAS (5) trialled impressively on return from a 3 year layoff behind Frisky Styx, he may need the run here. YANKIE KEV (1) and STRAYLA (8) both look set to receive soft runs and can fight out positions in the minor money. THE BEAUDSTER (7) is faced by a tricky draw, will need a few things to go his way. Tips: 11 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: GULLY GUM (11) to win. Market Market
