It Pays To Follow Posted on October 28, 2024October 28, 2024 | Posted by Digby Beacham Wednesday, October 23 @ Belmont Race 3 – THE AGENCY Forget THE AGENCY went around. He sprung the gates and after Shaun O’Donnell elected to take hold and get cover, was victim of a savage anchor drop which impacted the three-year-old and several other runners. Despite the interference, THE AGENCY was still able to run sixth, beaten only five lengths. The start prior he ran second to YORGA PRIDE at Bunbury, a race that has already thrown up four subsequent winners. He is most definitely better than maiden grade. Saturday, October 26 @ Ascot Race 7 – ALL THE KING’S MEN This was some sort of a return. Everybody is aware of the well-documented issues ALL THE KING’S MEN has had to overcome to return to the track. Trevor Andrews was hoping his dual stakes winner would get around safely at his first start in 20 months. He did that and more. In a hot 1200m ratings race, the now five-year-old clocked 33.60sec for his final 600m to fill third behind Winterbottom Stakes hopeful ALMIGHTY CLASS and TOROPA. It was great to see him back and off that, there are plenty of wins left in him. Race 8 – EXCEED THE PLANET This Sue Olive-prepared gelding was sent out at cricket score odds in the Belgravia Stakes after an unplaced effort in an 1100m Northam maiden first-up. At his final start as a two-year-old in the winter, EXCEED THE PLANET ran second to ELITE MISSILE, who we saw resume a winner the previous Saturday and is being aimed at the WA Guineas and possibly the Northerly Stakes. On the weekend, EXCEED THE PLANET weaved his way through the field and savaged the line to run third, beaten a length, behind boom three-year-olds WEST STAR and SEPTEMBER BORN. It won’t get any easier from here on, but the rise in distances look like they will suit. Sunday, October 27 @ Northam Race 8 – RED SUN SENSATION This bloke is going undeniably well. The two trials leading into his WA debut were quality and he has no good luck at either Ascot on opening day or in the Listed Northam Cup when forced to tramp wide. RED SUN SENSATION was entitled to finish out of calculations in the Avon Valley, but he stuck to his guns to run fifth. A group 3 winner over 2000m as a three-year-old, watch for him throughout the remainder of his campaign, with his next start likely to be the Listed Luckygray Stakes (1800m) early next month.
