Harry Buchanan’s Thursday Greyhound Best Bets Posted on August 17, 2023August 17, 2023 | Posted by TABtouch NORTHAM Race 2 No. 4 Dandalup Ruby Raced far harder class at Cannington two starts back then again over the 509 here last week. Short trip her go and just needs to step and hold a spot. This is hers to get into. Race 5 No. 7 Venetian and No. 1 Step Back Three Couple of top two hopes. The 7 is well over the odds here. Like racing at this track and will be strong on the run home. The 1 went ok last week and just needs a little more early interest. Can stick on strongly here. Fav hard to beat and he’s probably here to try and get a win after he’s struggling to win at the city level lately. He’s a big boy though and this track will take some navigating and while he probably has length or two on these, he is too short to side with. Race 7 No. 1 Solidified Unlike the kennel mate in the previous, this bloke is unbeaten here and he has plenty of conviction in his races. Boxed perfectly and comes out of a National Sprint State final. Just needs to push early to hold that spot on the fence and he can light these up through the back. They wont give it to him and there are handy dogs in this, but he’s the best dog in the race with the best box at what’s arguably his fav track with 3/3 here. Race 8 No. 1 Little Honda Box 1 continues to show up strong hopes here and this girl is ready. Superb effort last time and this race lacks a proper 500m run home type in form. She has one job. Hold the fence and a position through the first turn the good luck holding her out. This is hers to lose. EW bird here. Race 9 No. 8 Smirch Birch Gets on of the all time maps here. Slingshot beginner in 7 who turns left at box rise that takes out the first danger in 6 and then he just has to land on the red who can’t hold him off anyway. A bad step is all that stops him winning here and hard to stop. Race 10 No. 2 Liquor License Has surprisingly taken to 500m racing and again will look to lead and get away. Has proven difficult to catch and even stuck on well when she couldn’t lead solo last week. Will go fast and give a sight on the arm and genuine top 2 hope if she gets the lure to herself. Race 11 No. 8 Rona’s Rocket and No. 5 Honey Keeping Trouble is brewing here. A few who are desperate for the arm and don’t go without it. The 2,3,6,7 all lack purpose when they aren’t on the arm. The 8 stays out of that, drops to the fence and has made a habit of waiting for the run here. Charges through and will try and do so again at odds. The 5 has had a kennel change that has already yielded a fast trial at this circuit since and she will also look for a fence run behind the speed. Will thrive up here now and can still figure off a sticky draw. Follow regardless. SANDOWN PARK Race 2 No. 8 Pepita Class runner and while the box isn’t her best, the small field is spot on her her and she will be able to get over here with little fuss. Strong middle, stronger last section and great record here. The one to beat. Race 3 No. 2 Bagman and No. 4 Dewana Daicos A couple of at odds here. The 2 will go better this time and he has a nice turn of foot. If he lands on the arm or close to, he can go fast mid race to set up a frame finish. The 4 will come from back and looking for a first turn run his main goal here. If he gets it, he’s a threat on the way home. Place heavy spec on him. Race 7 No. 4 Aussie Rocks Been racing top grade company and racing well. Good beginner and early speed dog who puts it on right from the get go. Sticks on all trip and will take plenty of stopping this time without the real weapons in the race. Race 9 No. 8 Sunnyside Jo Needs to bring her usual early speed to cross but rarely misses it and loves the wide draw. 2 and 2 at the track and trip and can sprint and stay. Great strike threat and major chance here to hit top two. Race 10 No. 2 My Bonneville and No. 6 Heffernan Bale The 2 wasn’t comfortable without racing room last week. Just doesn’t cut loose when anything lays across him and doesn’t punch inside runs. Should have won and while he wants to get middle track, the small field helps that here and he’s the best dog in the race. 6 will go better back to Sandown. Has a much better record here and can handle all boxes . Keep in mind for top two. Race 12 No. 1 Pickled Piper and No. 6 Good Chat Whispy The 1 finally draws a box in the right company. Can drive up early and she sustains a very strong run home. Gets her chance this time and looks a huge show. The 6 ran out of his skin last week and stuck on strongly for his first go over the trip. A repeat will see him threaten and he should lead here. Market Market
