Trent’s WA Oaks Night Preview Posted on May 6, 2016May 6, 2016 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1: WWW.GANNONS.COM.AU MS PACE BETTER SCOOT (2) has been ultra-impressive in winning his three WA starts, all from the stand. He rated a sizzling 1.57.3 from the tapes at his last start and has the draw advantage over his main rival tonight. AMERICAN BOY (7) has won 8 of his 10 starts, including all four this campaign. He goes up in class for this assignment and is drawn wide but will still be hard to beat. BAPTISM OF FIRE (1) and OUR BIG SLOW (10) don’t have the class of a few in this race but both have the draws to be in the money at odds. Tips: 2 7 1 10 Suggested Bet: BETTER SCOOT (2) to win. Race 2: GANNON`S ON FACEBOOK MS PACE ATLASTALONE (1) was a good winner over this distance four starts back but has disappointed in finishing down the track at his last three runs. He should lead here and give them something to catch over the sprint trip. CHANGE GEAR (6) was a brave 3rd from the breeze at his last start and should break through in WA soon. SIR TOSTI MACH (9) and LAGOON STRIDE (8) are drawn wide but are both capable of winning if there is a strong tempo and they can get the right run into the race. Tips: 1 6 9 8 Suggested Bet: ATLASTALONE (1) to win. Race 3: GANNON`S PACING COLOURS MADE IN WA THE PURE STEEL QUALIFYING HEAT 1 NORTHERN ASSASSIN (2) was in great form before a spell and looks a major player here. He warmed up for his return with a close 2nd to Leda McNally in a Pinjarra trial and should give a great sight from his nice draw. LETTUCERIPRITA (3) is racing extremely well and will appreciate the better draw and longer distance tonight. GLENLOCHAR (4) and OFFTOCULLECT (7) fought out an easier event recently but both must be considered as winning chances. Tips: 2 3 4 7 Suggested Bet: NORTHERN ASSASSIN (2) to win. Race 4: GANNON`S RUGS & SASHES DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP SS PACE BETTOR OFFER (1) is a classy customer who isn’t the best standing start beginner but is the best horse in the field. He is very likely to be crossed early but will still be hard to beat if he settles close up and has a reasonable run in transit. ASSASSINATOR (7) has put up sensational runs at his last two starts and will be charging home. DONEGAL CHOKIN (4) grows a leg in front and would give them something to catch if he found the top. WALTZING WITH CULLEN (9) was driven for luck last week and had none but must be considered. Tips: 1 7 4 9 Suggested Bet: BETTOR OFFER (1) to win. Race 5: GANNON`S TROPHIES & AWARDS MS PACE BILLIES A STAR (5) resumed from a spell when he was conservatively driven and didn’t see any daylight and was bolting on the line. He is drawn inside his main rivals and his regular reinsman is back on board tonight. ELEGANT CHRISTIAN (9) choked down last start when he had the race at his mercy but his previous form was first class. PACIFIC WARRIOR (6) resumed from a disappointing campaign with a first up win and must be considered. CHIEF THUNDERCLOUD (8) is racing well but will find it hard to win from out here. Tips: 5 9 6 8 Suggested Bet: BILLIES A STAR (5) to win. Race 6: RACE FOR ROSES LADY WILLOUGHBY (9) hasn’t missed a place this campaign and was just nabbed last start in 1.55.5 for the 2130m. She is having her first start from the stand but should run a big race if she steps cleanly. BETTORS GEM (1) has been impressive in easier fields but can handle the rise in class if she can maintain her handicap advantage over her main rivals. SOVEREIGN FAITH (10) are JUNGLE JEWEL (12) are both capable of unwinding big sprints if they get the right cart into the race. Tips: 9 1 10 12 Suggested Bet: LADY WILLOUGHBY (9) to win. Race 7: GANNON`S WA OAKS DODOLICIOUS (5) has proven to be the state’s best filly and she can put the icing on the cake by winning the Oaks tonight. She did all of the work and was too good against a similar field last week and it is hard to see the others turning the tables. DIOR MIA MORE (4) could be the improver due to a better draw and looks the main danger. OUR GAMMA LADY (1) can be in the money from the pole, while stablemate BETTOR BOA (12) has won her last two well but goes up in class for this. Tips: 5 4 1 12 Suggested Bet: DODOLICIOUS (5) to win. Race 8: GANNON`S EAST PERTH SHOWROOM MARES MS PACE HIDDEN BAD (1) faced the breeze when too strong two starts back before finishing down the track in a stronger field. She is a C10 taking on lighter assessed mares and looks very hard to beat from the pole. ARTESIAN QUEEN (10) has won two of her last three starts and is drawn to be in the money. STELLAR KAMWOOD (2) was a good winner two starts back and should be thereabouts. ELPOCO DIABLO (6) has improved a great deal and has been racing well on country tracks but goes up in class tonight. Tips: 1 10 2 6 Suggested Bet: HIDDEN BAD (1) to win. Race 9: GANNON`S HARNESS SADDLE CLOTHS MS PACE THREE BEARS (9) ran a good 2nd to the talented American Boy before rating 1.54.8 for the 2130m when racing back in the field and being too good for Cyclone Mitch. He will settle near the rear again but only has to repeat his last performance to be hard to beat. COMMANDER CHAPEL (7) disappointed last start but the race wasn’t run to suit and he could be a big improver. HOLY GRAIL (12) and SOHO MONZA (5) are consistent types and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 9 7 12 5 Suggested Bet: THREE BEARS (9) to win. Race 10: GANNON`S FLAGS & BANNERS MS PACE MACH TIME (11) was a good 5th in the WA derby before facing the breeze and being too strong in a good 3YO event. He looks a class above his rivals and should overcome his back line draw. HEEZ ABOUT TO ROCK (2) is the likely leader and will give them something to catch. FISCALSMILE (3) chased hard when a close 2nd last week and can be placed. NOTA LADA (8) galloped out at his only WA start but has trialled nicely. Tips: 11 2 3 8 Suggested Bet: MACH TIME (11) to win.
