RACE 1

A maiden with some talent, only a modest tempo expected. KIRKHOEPASSE and KAYE JAY both made good debuts and are suited rising to the mile, the former was slow to begin at Cranbourne and wobbled around the bend before hitting the line hard off a good speed at 1300m, drawn to advantage for the step up in distance. KAYE JAY sat behind a slow tempo at Cranbourne and couldn’t reel in the leader and winner. A bad draw to overcome. NIGHTOWL makes his Australian debut for the Noblet stable, brings fitness and consistent form, tweaks to his gear, gelded and noseroll off, recent Geelong trial was good and J Allen sticks, wide draw to contend with. Further chances to MIKES HOPE and TRYST AND DOUBT.

RACE 2

TOOKAY PETE is an in-form gelding very well-placed by Melissa Page, tough win at Yarra Valley and followed it up at Cranbourne sitting outside lead and no match for smart & undefeated filly, expect that form to hold up and is worth sticking with in this easier race, Jakson Radley’s claim a bonus kicking up to hold the rail. MAGIC DRUM appears a threat, won his past two against weaker opposition, D Stackhouse rides and has drawn well to ride the speed. VOLATILE dropped in grade and Sandown and was plain, he may need rain to show his best. ELENA MONTERO is limited but consistent, expecting more of the same, weight relief may help.

RACE 3

HOT CHIPS will lead this smallish field; she goes up in grade and down in weight significantly and should prove hard to get past without too much pressure around her, with the right run a winning chance. RUSSIAN CHOICE was impressive winning at start two when favoured in the market defeating a subsequent winner, she rose in class sharply and not disgraced at Flemington behind a progressive winner, maps to park outside lead taking on key opponents anchored in the grade and battling for a win. MATAWAI maps in behind, needs luck getting off heels and LEGACY BAY will be hoping they go quick to bring her into the race, blinkers go on, that may see her land closer in the run.

RACE 4

A genuine raffle for the stayers over 3000m. URBAN OUTLOOK was expected to win at Geelong and one-batted away in the straight, blinkers go back on, goes to 3000m for the first time and it looks to be in his scope. EAGLE ANGEL’s recent form has been poor in stronger races, Logan Bates will claim 2kg and is on the 7-day back-up, he races on-speed which may prove advantageous in this field. HANAFUBUKI looked to find her race at Pakenham and started even money, she was plain there behind and all-the-way winner, take on trust. A case can be made for HIGHLANDS GLORY ahead of those coming off the picnic circuit.

RACE 5

FIGLIO D’ARGENTO brings great form for this contest, he can race handy to the speed from his wide draw and with luck in running can breakthrough for a deserved win dropping in grade. LIM’S SMYTHE was given no chance at Mornington and heavily-bet at Sale to make amends and he duly saluted, he lacks in size so the 2kg claim is some relief. MOVE THE TORANA is racing well, a tactics change sees her settle closer in the run. EN FLIQUE found the right spot in the run at Wangaratta and may end up with similar again for this class rise. HOUDINI made good ground at Geelong first-up and can improve further, watch betting.

RACE 6

Good race and even contest. COCO DELUXE looks very progressive, the undefeated filly had circumstances against on debut and found a way, she then took on older horses in a Class 1 at Albury and showed a sharp turn of foot in the straight. The step up to 1300m is the query. GET HONOR was excellent on debut receiving a great ride by Damian Lane to have her forward behind the speed and sprinted hard when gaps came. Different set-up this time drawing wide, she will get back in the run and rely on the speed up front. One of those is CELESTIAL ZARA, bombed the start on debut and made amends at start two leading throughout at Geelong, this is a much stronger contest. ORNOS ran well in the Stutt before spelling, returns gelded and has class to win, watch the market.

RACE 7

ENAMORADA is very exciting, the mare has been transferred to her third stable in her short, two start career. She landed a plunge on debut at Ballarat and produced an outstanding performance, then sat off an even tempo at Sandown and showed her talent to win a BM66 before going for a break. Two jumpouts, winning her latest, appears set for a forward return and finds a suitable race with good speed set-up by ULTRA BLUE and SNAPPY PIERRO, they hold the key to the favourite’s chances. ATTACHMENTS was strongly-supported on the lakeside last start and cramped for room at key stages, inside draw may be a negative. BOGA LEGEND has the closing speed to be prominent late.

RACE 8

Good tempo expected. YAM is honest and tough and staying at the level, the last-start winner rode the speed at Wangaratta and stuck on to score, young apprentice Cassidy Hill is replaced by the state’s leading apprentice Logan Bates and will again give a big sight. WATERSPORTS has excellent form for this contest and drops in grade after having every chance at Flemington, she maps well but the concern is the big weight and having to chase them down. SAVAMOON will come across and apply pressure, he was given a perfect ride here last time finding one better on the line. This race is stronger. ITSUKUSHIMA has drawn to join the speed battle, he’s always thereabouts.
