RACE 1

Forget I ONLY WISH went around at Pakenham, reversed out of the running in a slowly run affair and ran on as well as could be expected, she will give them a start and charge late. FULL HAO has drawn out but can take a forward position with intent from James McDonald and a repeat of her last start effort puts her in the finish. FIRST EFFORT sat close to the speed when heavily-bet at Geelong and had every chance in defeat, she may improve ridden quieter for last crack from the wide draw. MARY ELIZA was in need of the run fresh and expecting an improved showing.

RACE 2

CHAKADO is at his best when setting a rolling gallop in front and finds a race lacking speed, his jumpouts suggest he can give this a shake first-up. CLOUDLAND can get across and race handy with Ethan Brown aboard, he’s learnt how to win in recent preparations and was given a quiet trial to prepare for this. STATUARIO draws a stalking role, found the Coongy Hcp too tough fading in the straight and will appreciate this easier assignment. GETAFIX is ready to win third-up after an improved run last start, James McDonald aboard but appears under the odds in the early market.

RACE 3

KEEP YOUR COOL was scratched from Tuesday’s HKJC Stakes for this easier assignment, tracked a fast speed at Caulfield last start and stuck on well. Rising in grade to open class, she’s fit and in-form and has Mark Zahra, any cut in the track increases her chances. VERONA ROSE is well-placed down in grade switching states, she was fast home behind Idle By who was heavily backed to win here on Saturday and disappointed. Drawn a perfect gate, Craig Williams may look to hunt up. OH DIAMOND LIL is likely leader, Rachel King follows her down and wil give a big sight from the front, deep into her prep now and is well exposed. WAIMARIE was scratched from Randwick Tuesday, goes well 2nd up and is drawn to advantage.

RACE 4

SHOCKLETZ consolidated her excellent fresh record and had the perfect set-up to sprint best at Sandown in the small field, she’s been kept on the fresh side for this, five weeks between runs without a jumpout but she is in the right stable to be able to turning up fit. ZARMBARDO is flying and was given a peach ride to win at Caulfield when heavily-bet, he’s trying to go from a maiden to a BM90 in the space of 10 weeks, difficult to do. A firmer track favours. LIBERAMI excels at Flemington and received a good ride to win here over 1800m in May, his closing effort in the Seymour Cup suggests he’s ready to win, a softer track is preferrable. FORTUNE creates interest switching states, was put in the gun spot to win last start and will need similar.

RACE 5

ENXUTO drops in grade and backs up quickly from Saturday where he was well-supported and met the market expectations when held up and hit the line hard at 1400, extra trip suits and maps to get a similar run to what he did winning an open class race here in March. Best of the day. POISON CHALICE was an interesting nomination for the Gawler Cup first-up at 1500m and battled from a wide draw. Big weight drop and the wider draw is no negative as he can lay in under pressure. Not sure OH TOO GOOD apreciated the turning MV circuit although did get her chance and couldn’t sprint with them, returning to Flemington and back down in grade, can figure. APULIA sustained a long run to win fresh, inside draw is a negative.

RACE 6

GUERITE is a talent and showed it with an outstanding win at Bendigo launching home from the back on a day it was preferrable to be up and in. She can also race handy to the speed as we saw on debut and at Geelong and is hitting her straps for this big prizemoney race. KENGERO was snagged first-up at Seymour and ran home strongly, back to the jumpouts between runs and led throughout at Pakenham, potentially improved further and deserves respect with M Zahra legging up. BIG SEXY had every possible sitting outside lead at Bendigo and was nailed late, place hope again. CORONA LAD is 3rd emerg, his jumpout and first-up run were impressive, then followed it up at Sale when specked at odds, rough hope on a rain-affected track, visors on.

RACE 7

Wide open sprint race for fillies. SURFS UP was ridden with more intent winning first-up and then ridden quiet at Caulfield and was reluctant to change legs until late in the race with POINT BARROW coming off her back, i suspect she has more upside and loved her work through the line at the Flemington jumpouts. POINT BARROW is a risk after seeing her Flemington jumpout last week as a lead up, struggled to pick up the bridle at the tail before eventually made some ground. Connections chose to bypass the Coolmore for this. AKAYSHA was home fast in the Cap D’Antibes fresh and has drawn a favourable gate to reproduce similar, one of few in the race with straight line experience. INKARUNA followed AKAYSHA home in the same race and then found the wrong part of the track in the Danehill and didn’t finish off, trial between runs, blinkers go on, need a market push.

RACE 8

A genuine tempo is expected. CLASSIC GEM still a maiden, a classic style of staying filly best suited to the 2500m in this field, she’s looked every bit a staying filly from her first jumpout and comes to this not having had races run to suit. 4/5 career starts all sit/sprints. Any speed or cut in the track upgrades her chances. GETTA GOOD FEELING was looked after by Zahra in the sprint home in the Wakeful leaving plenty in the tank, obvious class runner, if they run it like the Derby she will take a power of beating. STRICTLY BUSINESS ate up the 8 day back up and sharp rise in distance at Flemington on Saturday, this will be her 3rd run in 13 days but should get a tempo to suit. ETHEREUM GIRL went around for the scenery in the Wakeful, bred to appreciate a wet track if any rain arrives.

RACE 9

INTEREST POINT wound back the clock for his new stable third-up winning at Ballarat, rocketing home off a fast tempo. He has prior straight track experience, Luke Currie aboard and both horse and rider have struck form at the right time. Best at odds. REY MAGNERIO is a gun straight line sprinter with a fantastic strike rate, held up before charging through late in the fast run Caulfield Sprint. Equicast on. The inner draw could work against him. STOKKE was well-supported stepping up to listed level and was left to lead them up over 1100m, she was disappointing. Back to 1000m and ridden to chase as she was when winning prior can improve her chances. NADAL has a big turn of foot and reunties with Ethan Brown, he peaked on his run in the Caulfield Sprint with that race run to suit which suggests he was underdone, looking for an improved showing.
