Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on January 8, 2026January 8, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Good race, hard to split two winning hopes. Leaning OUR CHIEF who was just having a run fresh after jumping out well for his return, he’s sure to be improved 2nd up and likely to have a weight & tactical advantage over JENNI GOT BONKERS who received a tactically-brilliant ride from Jett Stanley to get JENNI GONE BONKERS home at Pakenham, now has to lump 60.5kg to win here at Flemington so Mark Zahra needs to be positive from the outset or risk having to chase under the big weight. FLYING DONE received all favours when the opposition sat off him at Sandown, doubt he’s afforded the same luxury here. FALSET STAR is going ok for this leap in class, the big open spaces of this track should suit. Selections: 6,1,2,5 Suggested Bet: OUR CHIEF win RACE 2 The very progressive TOUCHDOWN is again well-placed by the Lindsay Park team after a rocky start to his career, he comes off a last start victory where the form continues to stack up behind him, 2000m appears within his scope, weight the only hurdle. TRAPALANDA couldn’t go with Touchdown at Caulfield, he now benefits most from the extra distance and enjoys a significant pull in the weights. WOLFESS over-raced again in the lead at Sandown, drawn the ace marble, without pressure she can lead and is an outside winning hope if she settles in running. SUN GIFT was heavily-bet at Cranbourne which looked a target race 2nd up, she’s a minor money hope. Selections: 2,8,10,9 Suggested Bet: TOUCHDOWN win RACE 3 At the last meeting here, straight track runners were favoured on the inside which is unusual. It’s a hot field assembled for the fillies. JENNI THE NINJA steps out of maiden grade after an impressive debut win in sharp time for 1000m at Pakenham, defeating an equally-impressive sub winner. Kept fresh as the breed tend to enjoy, she’s had a jumpout between runs and can measure up against this field. MILITARY TYCOON has been in work a while, expecting her forward in condition for this and has an all-important straight track victory to her name. ESHA is the class factor, prefer her at 1000m. CONSCIENCE is worth respecting on jumpout form. Selections: 8,2,1,6 Suggested Bet: JENNI THE NINJA each way RACE 4 EXPEETEE received every possible chance to score from a stalking position at Sandown, she maps to get sole control of this race as she did winning at Wodonga earlier in the preparation and that puts her in contention for this class rise. Norton bit again to help steering. I ONLY WISH was held up and luckless at Cranbourne, story of her career to date, the long Flemington straight helps but an expected moderate tempo is against her. So too MISS PLAYLOUNGE who is flying and having a career-best prep, she will balance up early and hit the line, as will SUNTORA who is racing well but up in the weights. Selections: 1,7,4,2 Suggested Bet: EXPEETEE 1 x 3 RACE 5 WATERSPORTS found the A1 spot behind the speed at Cranbourne and finished best with the right run, drawn to be handy again in a race lacking pace. Tempo may be against but hard to ignore the form of HIS FINEST HOUR for the new stable, always showed above-average ability and appreciated a hot speed up front to score at Wangaratta 2nd up, then did it again off a genuine tempo rising in class here last time. EXTREME VIRTUE has been plain in three runs this prep, maps for all favours from the lead pairing and a return to form would see her winning. The UK import MIDNITE STORM need not be a star to be winning this at his Australian debut, jumpouts have been encouraging, betting? Selections: 12,11,5,9 Suggested Bet: None RACE 6 The money came for and found CAVALRY GIRL last start drawn the inside, she went to the front and kept going in a strong F&M 74, drawn the opposite this time for a partial class drop, worth sticking with. GALLANT SON has promised more than he’s delivered, stable have kept the faith now into his 4YO season and has performed well fresh and up the Flemington straight. This is the easiest race he’s contested for some time. MAJESTICITY impressed at his only attempt at straight line racing and comes in hard & fit for this. REWARDS AND MORE has a big finish and can run on hard from a wide draw, 2nd up today. Selections: 13,1,15,2 Suggested Bet: CAVALRY GIRL each way RACE 7 Betting suggested KNOBELAS would just win at the Heath and was narrowly beaten by a smart ride. Love the placement this time up in grade and down in weight, parking in behind an expected strong tempo and she gets her chance to make amends. SNEAKY SUNRISE was also a heavily-backed favourite on that program, she wobbled around the bend and tried hard over 1800m, back in distance they may look to be forward in running. SA visitors always command respect crossing the border, KOMACHI has a big finish and suited by a fast tempo which is likely. TEARDROP ROTATION is building a good profile, this is her biggest test. Selections: 12,6,4,11 Suggested Bet: KNOBELAS win RACE 8 Speed likely to be fast. A number of runners are suspect at the end of 1200m which may favour the WA visitor AZTEC RULER coming off solid efforts at Group and Listed level over 1400m. He can take a position and sustain a run. MAJOR SHARE appeals returning to Flemington where his best efforts have come, maps to have the back of the leader coming up the middle of the track and will look the winner if he can hold the challengers. HEDGED is flying and was an impressive winner sitting wide at Sandown, he holds a straight track win here and MAHARBA has trialled to his usual high standard, also a winning chance if the inside plays as it did the last time we raced. Selections: 4,9,5,1 Suggested Bets: AZTEC RULER & MAJOR SHARE RACE 9 Even race. TANGANYIKA the former Kiwi is a big watch first-up at his Australian debut for the Lindsay Park team. Returning gelded, he showed sharp improvement between two jumpouts and gear changes added for his latest. When ridden quiet he posesses a big finish. Need a market push. ESMAHLI is the lone 3YO and easy to like, only defeat came at the hands of a progressive sprinter, first look at the Flemington straight. RUE DE ROYALE was smashed in betting at Caulfield and pulled up lame, righted the wrongs last start but did have the favourable inside draw, can go on with it. THREE RINGS creates interest crossing the border, had one run here for the previous stable and is in good form. Selections: 11,16,1,9 Suggested Bet: None RACE 10 Lindsay Park-trained STEALTH OF NIGHT is another well-placed horse on the card for this stable, Jackson Radley’s claim is again important, ridden forward he can look to slot in behind what appears a strong speed early and continue on her winning ways. LITTLE COINTREAU may benefit best of that strong tempo, he looked in need of the run fresh for new stable and ran accordingly. Up to 1400m suits and sure to be fitter. PORTER was completely sent at Cranbourne and stuck on well, expecting similar tactics, FEAR NO EVIL also races on-speed and comes down a fit horse from Sydney. Selections: 5,7,4,3 Suggested Bet: STEALTH OF NIGHT win Market Market
