Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on January 29, 2026January 29, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Speed is genuine. MAGNASPIN and TARVUE pair off in front, the latter was sent for home a long way out going 1800-2500 and understandably peaked on her run. Setting the pace with a drop back to 2000m she will take beating. JENNI’S MEADOW can pounce late from trailing position, she gets away from chasing Saint George and carries no weight. BOLD SOUL was excellent at Flemington, the problem is he leaves Flemington. MAGNASPIN from a forward spot may stick on depending on the tempo. Selections: 7,6,1,3 Suggested Bet: TARVUE win RACE 2 Expecting a sizzling 1000m contest. Speed from 10,2 & 12. The tempo can favour ALABAMA EXPRESS who is untried at 1000m but has a good fresh record and recent jumpouts suggest he’s fit and forward to return. The two runners best suited on the map are both dual-nominated, RUNLIKEANENCRYPTION and JENNYANYDOTS if they take their place are in winning contention, the former is race fit and genuine. CASTELLAR’S chances are hindered by the barrier, Craig Williams has a job to get her across from the wide barrier, he’s the right man to do so and must be included among the hopes. Selections: 4,7,5,2 Suggested Bet: ALABAMA EXPRESS each way RACE 3 A modest speed expected. TWO WOLVES is a progressive horse and his second-up win came without any market support. Should take further improvement into this and may hold a position-in-run advantage over TARZING who is the clear threat, an outstanding win at Geelong rounding up the field from the back on a day it was hard to do, he did get the speed on to suit. HEDONIST deserves respect running fast time at Warrnambool and may get a cheap lead with an apprentice capable of rating one in front, the ability to repeat the last start effort is the query. The stayer resuming TAZIMA brings a different set of formlines, no dry track form to consider, watch the betting. Selections: 12,11,5,6 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 4 A lack of speed may see SUN GIFT roll to the front with Jamie Melham, with positive tactics she’s top pick in an even race and hardest to beat. NAVY HEART can kick up inside her and join the speed. STYLISH SECRET is needing 2400m and goes up in grade to find it, he hit the line nicely last start and is ready to win. AMERICAN WOLF was scratched from a slowly run staying event at Sandown on Wednesday for this, potentially a similar scenario unfolds. Further chances to DICTIONARY and SAMUEL LANGHORNE who is resuming first-up off two jumpouts, need a market or yard push to get involved. Selections: 6,7,9,8 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 5 Another race with the speed only moderate and many winning chances. FALSET STAR and KOMITO are likely to be the best horses to come out of this race, the former got too far back behind a smart filly at Flemington and ran up backsides late, with a closer position he would justify his favouritism. KOMITO was slow out and rounded up an average maiden field at the mile, he will relish the rise to 1800m, another slow beginning would make it difficult. OUR CHIEF watched the leader kick and win at Flemington, he lands behind the leading pair STOLE HIM and OCTANE REIGN here. Selections: 4,5,2,1 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 6 JADZIA trialled impressively at Sandown in fast time and was scratched from the BD Preview last Saturday to be saved for this. The wider draw is an advantage for this filly with her big, extravagant action and will give this a shake on debut. BIG SKY was heavily-backed on debut at Flemington and despite racing with his head in the air he was able to show a good turn of foot from the front. INVINCIBLE SON impressed at the jumpouts and then sat wide midfield behind the subsequent MM winner at Caulfield, back to the jumpouts again and is among the key chances. Queenslander LADY OF FIVE has showed speed at the jumpouts, yet to be given a squeeze, hard to assess her debut form into this. Selections: 7,1,2,4 Suggested Bet: JADZIA win RACE 7 Very keen on A LITTLE DEEP to win third-up, a profile she’s been successful with previously. Coming off a 36 day let-up, her Cranbourne jumpout was sharp work to have her ready and maps for a great run from a trailing position. DAMASK ROSE has a touch of class and is well-placed in this G3 after aiming up at the top level last time in, another to catch the eye at the jumpouts, the stable can’t buy a good ride atm and Williams will need luck extricating off the fence. SAMANGU needs a positive steer from her wider draw, she’s been slow to come to hand to date but has the ability. AVIATRESS next best, inner draw could be problematic with her racing style. Selections: 7,3,5,4 Suggested Bet: A LITTLE DEEP win RACE 8 The speed is hot! The set up is right for GALLANT SON to go back-to-back after a good win fresh up the Flemington straight. A talented galloper, with luck at key stages he’s a deserving favourite and hard to beat. GRACIE’S RAIN has a terrific record at 1100m, drops in class and a repeat of her first-up win at Caulfield when sent from a wide gate gives her every chance to repeat but there is more pressure from her inside this time. RUE DE ROYALE has been an improved version of himself this campaign returning as a gelding, if he jumps with them he’s in the finish. SWEETHEARTED gets the drop on of all them, she’ll get back and wide in the straight, worth monitoring the pattern. Selections: 3,5,4,6 Suggested Bet: GALLANT SON win RACE 9 MAKE IT SWEET is bursting to win after two excellent efforts in town, the latest at Flemington she was outsprinted by Merrigold (most unlucky not to win again) the wide barrier may force their hand to be positive and take up the running. English import MIDNITE STORM had the right run to win at Flemington, wary of a flat run second-up but is 7-weeks between so stable given him plenty of time to get over and repeat the performance. PURE ALPHA switches states, can be slow away, how the track is playing come late in the day will be an important factor. Not sure what to make of SEAFALL, she was backed for plenty at Flemington and found zip, could bounce back without surprising. Selections: 6,7,8,12 Suggested Bet: MAKE IT SWEET each way RACE 10 STEALTH OF NIGHT was nominated for two races on the card, they’ve opted with the BM84 carrying less weight which looks a smart decision, she has a number of positives in her favour with a neat jumpout between runs, a tempo to suit and drawn a sweet spot trailing the speed. ZOUPER FUND is off a similar break, 5-weeks between runs and he too has had a jumpout at Cranbourne given an easy time of things. Also drawn well, midfield and charging late. PORTER kept on running at Flemington, he’s hard and fit, will need to fight off the challenge from FEAR OF EVIL. RED GALAXY is better suited back around a bend, a wider hope. Selections: 16,6,9,11 Suggested Bet: STEALTH OF NIGHT win Market Market
