Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Ballarat Preview Posted on December 3, 2025December 3, 2025 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 MALDINI is having a good prep and was well-backed late and received a great ride put outside lead at Cranbourne and raced away. Connections would be looking replicate those tactics again drawn low, needs it no worse than soft. MOSTLY FOR SHOW has improved as a 3YO and attacked the line strongly after being held up, soft track holds no fears. SAVANNAH CHILL looks to have improved through the Flemington jumpouts this season, she has been keen in her work and may look to take up the running. WRIGLEY FIELD will give them a start but proven effective on wet ground. Selections: 2,4,7,5 Suggested Bet: MALDINI win RACE 2 The border-hopper SWIFTIE HARRIET is extremely-well placed by a good stable, heavily-bet in a Class 1 last start and tried hard behind a genuine speed, plugging late under the 60 kg. With Jackson Radley’s claim she gets in with 51kg in a stronger race with another solid tempo expected. ACTUALITY has been just fair since her impressive first-up win at Seympour, poorly-drawn, ridden with intent she can get outside lead and give a sight. The other key chances come through the same race. SEA POEM was super from the back, LEGACY BAY ran well and winner GRACIES RAIN was the benefactor of being sent. Selections: 9,7,6,8 Suggested Bet: SWIFTIE HARRIET win RACE 3 HARRY’S YACHT returned in style off a pair of soft jumpouts, held up behind a good speed he let rip down the middle and has been given a month off to recover, chased strongly in a recent Flem jumpout and is a deserving short quote under the conditions of this race. GROUND CONTROL was smashed in betting winning at Pakenham last start which is not unusual for the local stable when they step in. If he jumps with the field he can lead up and give a kick. ELONIA will likely join him in front, she was dominant breaking her maiden at start two, ridden like the best horse in the race, 1200 may test. KAGEMUSHA is racing well on soft tracks and hoping for similar come race-day. Selections: 1,7,10,8 Suggested Bet: HARRY’S YACHT win RACE 4 Two key chances go back from their draws. DARK SIMBA was underdone fresh, went back and worked home nicely at Caulfield, a proven second-up performer, he gets soft track conditions to suit. YES I KNOW was ready and had the money on but circumstances against at Cranbourne too far back and unable to reel them in, another sticky draw. EXTREME VIRTUE appeals as she is unbeaten second-up and trialled super leading into her Cranbourne resumption, every chance on-speed and just whacked away. Can improve sharply. TRAPALANDA is the best at odds, eye-catching work at the jumpouts to suggest he’s forward enough to run a bold race first-up. Selections: 13,15,10,11 Suggested Bet: Multiples with 13 & 15 RACE 5 A race of many chances but keen on PURE BLISS who is ready to show something, better than her recent form suggests and with a gap between runs she was the standout performer at Flemington jumpouts with the winkers off. This a key gear change for race-day and expecting improvement. SPRITED DEFENCE is up in grade without many other suitable options, another good performer at the jumpouts, impressive at Ararat with pacifiers off, he needs it dry and can be slow to step, so gate 1 is a niggle. YOU’RE TOO VAIN is progressive and scopey, heavily-bet to score at Caulfield last start, this is much stronger and has drawn awkward. SCAMPI is sure to be wound up fresh, at the end of 1100 he can get wobbly. Selections: 11,12,7,6 Suggested Bet: PURE BLISS 1 x 4 RACE 6 SHYSTAR likely leads crossing from a wide gate, she did a good job leading and sticking on at Geelong in a fast race, the form stacking up behind her. Softer track conditions work against her. ROYAL FLARE goes up a level after an impressive debut victory with market expectation, he was a standout at Cranbourne jumpouts leading in, any cut in the track is in his favour. TEN WARRIORS was a vomitous watch for his supporters at Geelong, held up in behind and flashed late, the bird had flown. Trouble seems to find him, cant knock the way he’s returned. BUZITUP is ready to win, he’s been giving away too much ground and hitting the line, likely to do similar. Selections: 12,2,4,5 Suggested Bet: None RACE 7 CARBANADOS is supremely-placed, fresh is usually best and kept on the fresh side for this five weeks between runs after overcoming traffic to win at Randwick. Craig Williams is forecast to have a big day and this is his best chance. MAJOR SHARE should now be hard and fit after a slow build up at the jumpouts, he’s a key speed influence in the race and is the main threat. WIGGUM switches states and is hard to line up, best efforts on firmer tracks so forecast rain on race-day is worth monitoring. APACHE SONG improves second-up, goes forward with Logan Bates and is among the minor chances. Selections: 9,3,12,11 Suggested Bet: CARBANADOS RACE 8 PARTY CRASHER is progressive and genuine and had track conditions to suit on Cup day. He is equally adapt on good tracks and finds a weaker race up in grade to win again. HOWLIN RAIN supporters had Logan Bates to thank winning at Moe controlling the race from the gates, using the iniside draw he can adopt similar tactics. NAVY KING is running to his best, he is suspect in a finish and may have to work from the outer draw, another solid each-way chance. REGAL LION received a brilliant Jamie Mott ride to score at Cranbourne, drawn to be in the mix again. Selections: 9,2,8,3 Suggested Bet: Multiples with 2,3,9 RACE 9 Even edition of the Ballarat Cup. SAINT GEORGE is airborne, his two runs this campaign impressive getting back and attacking line just finding one better at Flemington last start in KINGSWOOD and they reunite, the latter missing a run last week. AIR ASSAULT was well-placed to win the Cranbourne Cup but pilot error caught napping early and shuffled back in a race that was run at a stronger than expected tempo. 1600-2000 is some query. POISON CHALICE had the tempo against so went forward at Caulfield, just plain to the line, can improve ridden quieter with blinkers off and winkers going on. Selections: 6,2,3,7 Suggested Bet: SAINT GEORGE win RACE 10 Big field and a host of chances. GRID GIRL trialled super and has not put a hoof wrong ridden with intent and winning both her starts this prep. She’s in well at the weights after Jackson Radley’s 3kg claim and gives a sight up on speed. STYLISH was no match for a good horse at Caulfield but worked home ok with a nasty set-up, can definitely improve into this with a spot or two closer in the run. ROADCONE will appreciate getting away from the fence as he can lose his action when pressure comes outside of him. SUNSHINEINMYPOCKET ran into a rampaging Persian Spirit at Caulfield, no luck prior, consistent gelding sure to be in the mix. Selections: 6,10,14,3 Suggested Bet: GRID GIRL 1 x 3 BEST BET: R7#9 CARBANADOS NEXT BEST: R8#9 PARTY CRASHER VALUE: R5#11 PURE BLISS Market Market
