Giadresco Looking For Scahill Stakes Profit Posted on December 13, 2017December 13, 2017 | Posted by Julio Santarelli Peter Giadresco says the Scahill Stakes (1400m) holds no fears for Profit Street and victory in the $250,000 race would be a fitting end to the year for his consistent galloper. The Viscount five-year-old meets a field of nine starters in the Group 3 Scahill Stakes, headlined by top local hopes Variation and State Solicitor and interstate raider Ulmann. Quality galloper Variation has his sights set on the Scahill Stakes after a sound fourth to Great Shot in the $1 million Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) three weeks ago. State Solicitor scored a slashing win two starts back, but is looking to reclaim pride after a disappointing eighth to Viddora in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes on December 2. Ulmann, from the all-conquering Victorian stables of Darren Weir, remained in Perth after running eighth in the Railway Stakes, beaten 2 ½ lengths. “I believe I have the locals pretty much covered,” Giadresco said. “He is right to go and deserves a big win. “The only horse I don’t have much of a handle on is Ulmann. “But my horse is ready to pull out a big effort.” Giadresco said Profit Street’s form at weight-for-age will give him a competitive edge in the Scahill Stakes. He was runner up in the Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1000m) and fourth in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot two weeks ago. “My horse can carry weight and I think he will be suited at weight-for-age,” Giadresco said. “Many of the other horses have to carry 59kg and that will be a big difference for a lot of them.” Giadresco confirmed Profit Street would head straight to the paddock after the Scahill Stakes, in need of a break after a sustained campaign. Since commencing in April he has raced 11 times, posting three wins and five placings, the Listed Bolton Sprint (1200m) last July his signature victory. “He hasn’t really run a bad race throughout the year,” Giadresco said. “He probably isn’t up to the elite level yet, but this race is not as strong as the Winterbottom. “He is ready to be up there and put in a great race.” Profit Street has drawn the widest gate in the Scahill Stakes. Jarrad Noske picks up the mount, replacing Brad Parnham, who has elected to stick with Variation. “I’m not bothered by barrier nine,” Giadresco said. “He will be ridden a little quieter and can then have the last crack at them.”
