Deane’s Flemington Saturday Selections Posted on November 4, 2016November 7, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 2 NO. 5 HIPPARCHUS The Chris Waller trained HIPPARCHUS should be at peak fitness following three runs back from a spell and looks a great winning chance when he contests the Benchmark 90 Plate (2000m). The five year old boasts a record of two wins and two placings from his four attempts at 2000 metres. He drops 4.5kg on his last start second at Randwick on October 22 and champion rider Hugh Bowman takes the ride in this very suitable race. RACE 5 NO. 8 LUCKY PADDY LUCKY PADDY has returned to racing in good form and looks ready to return to the winners list when he runs in the Benchmark 96 Handicap (1600m). The five year old produced a good second-up effort when finishing 3rd behind two subsequent winners MASTER RESET and RAGEESE over 1500 metres at Moonee Valley on October 21. That formline looks strong and he should be further improved by that run. He drops in weight and in-form rider Damian Lane takes the mount; looks one of the better bets of the day. SuperPick - Race 5 No. 8 Lucky Paddy - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 6 NO. 16 HAPPY HANNAH The best value of the day is HAPPY HANNAH who runs in the Matriarch Stakes (2000m). The Peter and Paul Snowden trained mare has improved with each of her three runs this campaign and looks ready to peak in her target race for the preparation. She will relish the step up to this distance as she was Group 1 placed in the Vinery Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill in March. Kerrin McEvoy has been the star rider of the carnival and takes the ride on HAPPY HANNAH; great winning chance at each way odds. Bet Now
