Euro 2016 – Italy v Spain Posted on June 27, 2016July 12, 2016 | Posted by Sportsbettingmax.com Parc des Princes, Paris – 28th June, Midnight AWST Recent Form Croatia 2 v Spain 1 Italy 0 v Republic of Ireland 1 Head to head Spain 11 – Italy 8 – Draw 11 Recent match 2016 International friendly – 1-1 Draw Match Overview Spain and Italy have played each other six times in the European Championship making it the most played fixture in the history of the tournament. Expect Spain to control possession of the ball +60% and for Italy to keep the formation narrow and defend as well as they have for decades. Spain had done nothing wrong in this tournament until they decided to be too flamboyant in the match against Croatia. The missed penalty aside, Croatia deserved to win that match against a Spanish side that was very close to full strength. This forced Spain into a more difficult path in the knockout stages, including this match-up. Italy on the other hand took a different approach, resting players against the Republic Of Ireland which ultimately cost them the match. Alvaro Morata is equal top of the leader’s board with his three goals for the tournament and will again pose the biggest problems for the Italian defense. Nolito and Gerard Pique will also be dangerous as will Fabregas, Silva and Iniesta, such is the wealth of talent that Spanish Manager Vincente del Bosque has under his control. For Italy, their three goals in the tournament have been scored by Pelle, Eder and Giaccherini. Antonio Conte still has some wonderful talent to call on like De Rossi, Florenzi and Lorenzo Insigne may push for a possible start. Don’t be surprised if the Italians try to take this match to penalties without a score. It will be tight and I expect that Spain will win. Player Watch For Spain I am staying with Morata. Throughout this tournament the big name strikers keep scoring so there is no reason to switch off him now. I will also pick Andres Iniesta to score late if it is tight. For Italy Giaccherini and Insigne are worth a gamble for first goal scorer.
