Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on July 27, 2018July 27, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 1 NO.1 SOCIAL SPIN SOCIAL SPIN is enjoying a strong preparation and looks the one to beat again when he tackles the VOBIS Gold Ingot (1400m). The son of Toorak Toff has won two of his past three starts including a strong victory over 1400 metres at Sandown on July 11. He makes his own luck in his races and presents with the best form in this field. He only needs to hold his form and SOCIAL SPIN should record his third career victory. RACE 6 NO.2 BONDEIGER The VOBIS Gold Stayers (2400m) looks a target race for BONDEIGER, who should be close to peak fitness following three runs back from a spell. The six year old made good improvement when finishing 4th behind stablemate SIXTIES GROOVE over 2000 metres at Flemington on July 21. He will appreciate the extra distance of this race and has performed well in the past on a quick back up so the seven days between runs appears ideal. He was a winner of the Launceston Cup over this distance last campaign and trainer Darren Weir looks to have him primed for this race. On a tough card, BONDEIGER looks one of the better bets of the day. RACE 8 NO.3 KING’S AUTHORITY KING’S AUTHORITY has been racing without much luck of late and deserves a change in fortunes when he contests the VOBIS Gold Reef (1600m). The son of Snitzel stepped up to 1400 metres last time and finished well to run 3rd behind MANDALA EFFECT at Caulfield on July 14. He looks ready for the extra distance of this race and should be at peak fitness following four runs back from a spell. The recently married Mark Zahra, fresh back from his honeymoon, takes the mount and KING’S AUTHORITY represents a value winning chance at each way odds. Market Market
