RACE 3 NO.4 APPROACH DISCREET

APPROACH DISCREET is a progressive type from the Darren Weir stable that can continue on his winning way when he runs in the Three Year Old Handicap (1500m). The son of Dawn Approach recorded brilliant sectionals to win his maiden over 1300 metres at Sandown Hillside on August 15 before a stunning 8.5 lengths win over 1508 metres at Morphettville on August 25. Whilst this looks a stronger race, APPROACH DISCREET looks a stakes class horse in the making that can complete a hat trick of wins here.

RACE 6 NO.1 THRILLSTER

THRILLSTER showed good promise during autumn that has returned to racing in good form and looks a strong winning chance when he contests the Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m). The Team Corstens trained filly recorded wins in the rich Super VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo on April 7 and the Super VOBIS Gold Sires (1200m) at Caulfield on April 21. She returned from a spell with a brave third from wide barrier draw behind SUNLIGHT in the Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 18. She will be fitter for that run, looks drawn for a cheap run and represents good each way value in a competitive race.

RACE 8 NO.7 NIGHT’S WATCH

The feature race of the day is the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) and NIGHT’S WATCH looks well placed to race himself into Caulfield Cup calculations with a victory in this Group 2 contest. The five year old has returned to racing in prime form with a first-up second behind stablemate THEANSWERMYFRIEND over 1400 metres at Flemington on August 11 before a dominant win in sharp time over 1400 metres at Caulfield on September 1. He will relish a step up in distance on a quick back up and appears ready to step into the big league successfully.
