RACE 3 NO.10 MULTAJA

The Three Year Old Fillies Handicap (1000m) promises to be a fascinating clash with some lightly raced and talented fillies involved, none more so than MULTAJA who kicks off her spring campaign in this race. The daughter of Medaglia D’oro has only had one start for a stunning win over 1115 metres at Werribee on April 7. On that occasion, she cruised just behind the speed before dominating the race over the final stages under a good hold. A recent Flemington jumpout would suggest that she has returned to training in similar form and only needs reasonable luck from wide draw to prove hard to beat in this contest.

RACE 4 NO.4 YOU’VE BEEN HAD

YOU’VE BEEN HAD has been freshened since an unplaced run at Flemington in June and can return to winning form when he tackles the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1000m). The lightly raced six year boasts a fine record over 1000 metres having recorded four wins and second from five attempts. Elite rider Ben Melham is back aboard the son of Reward For Effort and has enjoyed success on two occasions aboard the gelding. He’s likely to settle off the pace but possesses a terrific turn of foot and has more upside than his rivals; sure to run well again.

RACE 8 NO.3 TRAP FOR FOOLS

The best bet of the day is former WA galloper TRAP FOR FOOLS when he contests the Quality Handicap (2040m). The five year old should be at peak fitness following three runs back from a spell which includes his brave last start second behind SIXTIES GROOVE over 2000 metres at Flemington on July 21. The chestnut possesses a very high cruising speed which allows him to run along in front at this distance and break the sprint of his rivals. He has settled in nicely for the Jarrod McLean stable and this looks a great opportunity for him to record his first Victorian win.
