RACE 2 NO.10 ACCOUNTABILITY

ACCOUNTABILITY has been racing in career best form and looks ideally placed to record another win when the contests The Macca’s Run (2800m). The Chris Waller trained gelding was freshened after consecutive wins over 2400 metres at Randwick and Kembla Grange in early September. His lead up race for this event resulted in a fast finishing 3rd behind WIL JOHN over 2400 metres at Caulfield on October 13. The Waller stable won this race in 2019 with SHARED AMBITION who’d come through the same lead up race and ACCOUNTABILITY appeals as one of the better bets on Cup Day.

RACE 5 NO.11 FRANKIE PINOT

FRANKIE PINOT has been racing in career best form and looks the one to beat when he runs in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (1400m). The Tony and Calvin McEvoy trained gelding was a brilliant winner at Sandown three starts back, it then took the in-form SIRILEO MISS to beat him at Sandown on September 25 before a luckless 3rd behind AGREEABLE over 1400 metres at Caulfield on October 13. He will relish the spacious Flemington circuit and elite rider Kerrin McEvoy takes the ride. There looks good speed in this race which will suit FRANKIE PINOT’S running style and he seems well placed to record his fifth career victory.

RACE 8 NO.12 ENERGY WITHIN

The best longshot on Cup day might be ENERGY WITHIN who runs in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m). The daughter of Toronado recorded two impressive wins over 1200 metres at Mornington at the start of her campaign before a luckless 9th behind RAINBIEL in the Black Pearl (1200m) at Geelong on October 20. She will appreciate stepping up in distance and is reunited with champion rider Damien Oliver, fresh from his Group One double at Flemington on Derby Day. It’s a competitive race with a host of chances, however ENERGY WITHIN looks over the odds and should run a bold race.
