Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on February 15, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 1 NO.6 REMEMBER THE NAME The Fillies and Mares Benchmark 84 Handicap (1600m) looks a competitive mares race but REMEMBER THE NAME is ready to win again. She relishes the Flemington track, gets blinkers back on and expect James McDonald to be proactive and allow her to roll forward into a prominent position. Her last start 3rd over 1600 metres at Sandown on January 28 was full of merit as she was thwarted by a modest tempo. She should now be at peak fitness following three runs back from a spell and represents each way value. RACE 5 NO.1 AMPHITRITE AMPHITRITE is the class runner of The Vanity (1400m) and appears poised to record a first-up win. The daughter of Sebring won four races on end last preparation culminating in victory in the Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield last October. He is now with the Hayes/ Dabernig stable and trialled very well at Flemington in preparation for this race. Craig Williams has built a fine rapport with the filly and she should enjoy a lovely run off an inside draw. She’s a winner over 1400 metres at Flemington and should record her fifth win from 10 starts. RACE 8 NO.10 SUNLIGHT The Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) is the feature race of the day and SUNLIGHT can further enhance her record with a win in this group one contest. The daughter of Zoustar has won eight of her 12 starts to date including her last start victory down the Flemington straight in the Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) in November. She has trialled very well leading into this race and looks drawn to enjoy a great run. Whilst this is a strong field, SUNLIGHT has the right credentials to win and represents the best bet of the day. Market Market
