Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on July 10, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.3 EFFLORESCENCE EFFLORESCENCE is a progressive type from the Anthony Freedman stable that can continue on his winning way when he runs in the 2yo Handicap (1400m). The son of I Am Invincible ran 4th at his first two starts before recording an all the way victory over 1400 metres at Ballarat on June 28. The blinkers were applied on that occasion and had the desired effect as he showed great speed and maintained a good gallop to record good figures on the day. He’s well placed again and, with the rail back in the true position, should be able to dominate this race and win again. RACE 8 NO.1 SIZZLEFLY The 3yo Fillies Handicap (1100m) looks a competitive race with a host of chances, however the pre-post favourite SIZZLEFLY appears well placed to record her 6th career victory from just 13 race starts. The Phillip Stokes trained galloper has been freshened since an Adelaide campaign and has looked very sharp in two recent jump-outs. She gets the benefit of Thomas Stockdale’s 2kg allowance, seems drawn for a good run and can prove too classy for this field. RACE 9 NO.8 HE EKSCELS HE EKSCELS resumes from a spell when he runs in the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1700m) and appeals as a good value chance on the Caulfield program. The six year old has handy fresh form, races well at Caulfield and has trialled strongly for this race. At his last fresh run, he finished 4th behind ODEON in the Lord Stakes (1700m) at Caulfield on December 26 which is a good form reference for this class of race. He gets the benefit of Campbell Rawiller’s 3kg and should run a bold race at each way odds. Market Market
