Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on March 13, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.3 GRAND PROMENADE Progressive stayer GRAND PROMENADE is striving for his fourth consecutive win when he contests the Grand Handicap Classic (2400m). The Maher/ Eustace trained gelding has won his past two starts over 2100 metres and 2000 metres, and should relish a step up in distance in this race. The imported son of Champs Elysees looks destined for better class races and appeals as one of the better bets of the day. RACE 5 NO.4 SECRET BLAZE SECRET BLAZE completes his preparation for next week’s Mornington Cup (2400m) when he tackles the Cup Prelude (2000m) and should take a power of beating. The four year old enjoyed a fruitful early summer campaign and resumed with an outstanding 2nd behind subsequent Australian Cup winner FIFTY STARS in the Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on February 29. He’s a very handy stayer that is drawn for a cheap run and gets the services of elite rider Mark Zahra. On a competitive program, SECRET BLAZE looks the best bet of the day. RACE 6 NO.6 WAYUPINTHESKY Team Snowden look to have found the ideal race for WAYUPINTHESKY to return to racing as a winner when she contests the Inglis Dash (1100m). The daughter of Snitzel was a stakes winner last preparation that has trialled stylishly in recent weeks and appears drawn to get the right run. She’s won three of her seven starts to date including two wins at this distance and appears primed to run well in this rich sales restricted race. Market Market
