Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on April 5, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 3 NO.2 THINK BLEUE Talented mare THINK BLEUE will be fitter for two runs back from a long spell and looks ready to return to winning form when she runs in the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 84 Handicap (1600m). The four year old has been contesting stakes races in her return and has performed creditably on both occasions. She will enjoy a good drop in class, gets the 3kg claim for promising apprentice Teodore Nugent and appears drawn for a good run. She has a solid winning strike rate of four wins from 10 starts and looks ideally placed here; sure to run well. RACE 4 NO.1 MR QUICKIE MR QUICKIE has been one of the revelations of Victorian racing over the summer/autumn period and should continue on his winning way when he runs in the 3YO Handicap (1600m). The son of Shamus Award has won his past six starts taking his record to seven wins from nine starts. He was a dominant winner of the Mornington Guineas (1600m) on March 23 and should be further improved by that run. He gets a 1.5kg claim for Ethan Brown who has previously won on MR QUICKIE and they should combine for another victory. RACE 7 NO.2 ASHLOR Reliable sprinter ASHLOR has been freshened up since his last start win and looks the testing material again when he contests the Open Handicap (1200m). The four year old scored a brave last start win over WIDGEE TURF in the Super Vobis Gold El Dorado (1300m) at Wangaratta on March 3. He drops 3.5kg on that win and has won over 1200 metres at Caulfield earlier in his career. He will race on the pace making his own luck and should prove very hard to beat again. Market Market
