David Shortte’s Tuesday Mandurah Best Bets Posted on June 14, 2022June 14, 2022 | Posted by David Shortte Race 2 No. 9 ON THE WATCH Returned to the winner’s list on Thursday night defeating Lady Coco and while the time of 17.46 wasn’t electric did cop a couple of checks in the run and was a solid effort. The main dangers are drawn in boxes 6 and 8 but they like to hang out deep on the track so she is likely to get a good look at them up on the fence. Has had 5 tries from box one for 2 wins and 2 placings and at the $19 being offered on Fixed Odds looks a great each way bet. Race 6 No. 2 JOLIE EXPORT Handy type who hasn’t had much luck with box draws over his past 5 starts drawing boxes 4,5 and 6. Goes well from this draw where he has had 3 tries for a win and 2 placings. Has broken 23 seconds at 4 of his last 7 starts here over this trip and if he does that here is likely to be right in the finish. Race 7 No. 1 ASTON CASINO Has been racing without luck in much harder fields in recent times and is likely to appreciate this easier class and inside draw. Last time he was in this grade was 6 starts ago when he landed second early and dropped a slick 22.60 seconds when defeating Classy Riot. Has won 3 of 5 from box one and with a safe getaway is the dog to beat. Race 9 No. 2 SOZIN’S AZZURI Was back to his brilliant best 2 starts ago when running a sizzling early split of 6.50 when leading throughout in 22.70 seconds in this grade. The only time in his career he has drawn box 2 he was a winner in 22.82. Vanda Violet in box one is a progressive young dog and they look the Quinella but I just thought if Sozin’s can run anywhere near that 6.50 early sectional again he should lead and be very hard to run down.
