Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on November 28, 2024November 28, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 After a couple of weeks at the provincials we’re back in the big smoke at Rosehill on Saturday. Forecast – bad, track will be rain affected. Certainly not much in the way of wet track form amongst the 2yo’s in this opening race where only 3 of the 10 acceptors have been to the races. ICARIAN DREAM has the race experience & a win on soft ground, solid the latest in Group 3 company. BOMBAY BOOM has trialled well, unbeaten both occasions on wet ground. FERMOY cost plenty, BIG market watch. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: Follow market leads. RACE 2 I’m going with the unbeaten CAMBAR who has looked good both starts at Wagga on both wet & dry ground. He’s been fitted up for this with a Gundagai trial win & has a ton of upside. SIR REMPLAP impressed winning first up at Scone on a soft (7), another with upside. RAMONES draws out, scratching numbers could be high which will help, races well fresh & handles any type of going. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Going to lean to TOTOKA on an each-way basis as she drops back plenty in class & will carry no weight. She caught the eye three back this grade before tackling Group 2 & 3 her next couple, the Group 2 race was farcically run whilst she did make steady ground the latest. PIRAEUS is busting to win a race, placed his past 3 surely he goes close here, logically the hardest to beat. SO SLEEK worth including should we get to the heavy range. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet: TOTOKA EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 4 After PIPPIE BEACH’s last start unplaced flat effort at Newcastle I was keen to jump ship as she just hasn’t been finding the line within her recent runs & I was of the opinion I’d overrated her. Looking through her form though she seems to race better with give in the ground & that’s going to be the case today, she’s on her last chance though! SHE’S UNUSUAL & REDBREAST are right in the mix, both resume & have trialled well enough to win the race. LLANDDWYN is another returning with a hope, stablemate to PIPPIE BEACH. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet: PIPPIE BEACH EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 5 Interesting runner here is the ex-Irish galloper ZAPHOD who yes, resumes from a break at 1800m which is a concern however he just gives me the impression he’s a swimmer who is clearly better suited the wetter the surface & should that be the case I’ll have something on him unless a big drifter. BULLETS HIGH is in outstanding form & has to be the toughest runner to beat, strong to the line his past couple he’ll lap up 1800m & although yet to see heavy is twice a soft track winner. MORNING SUN next best. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 17 Suggested Bet: ZAPHOD EACH-WAY (if firm in the market, wetter track the better). RACE 6 Big field at this stage, plenty of luck in running likely to be required. BELVEDERE BOYS is short in early markets however he does look hard to beat predominantly as he’s a very good wet track galloper. Rock hard fit at his fourth run back he does tend to get back however should the breaks come in the straight look out! DON STEFANO will appreciate the step up in distance, wet track no issue. FAY’S ANGELS in the mix, there’s plenty others with a chance also. Numbers: 6 – 16 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet: BELVEDERE BOYS TO WIN ($3.00 or better). RACE 7 Listed race with a good field of consistent gallopers, some resume. OUR KOBISON has gone up at a decent price considering his recent efforts have been behind the likes of Joliestar & I Am Me. Recent trial was sound & although yet to see a heavy track is 1 from 1 on soft (5). FRONT PAGE will give them plenty to chase, might be a risk on heavy though, soft deck preferred. Respect for CONTEMPORARY, JEDIBEEL & the resuming IN FLIGHT creates plenty of interest. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet: OUR KOBISON (each-way). RACE 8 The Group 3 Festival Stakes is the days feature & it looks a wide-open affair. PRIVATE EYE without a shadow of doubt is the best performed horse in the race & although drawn out that may end up a good thing with the likely condition of the track. Although unplaced all 5 runs this prep some of those runs have been against the best horses in the country & Joe Pride wouldn’t be keeping him going unless he thought he could win the race. MIGHTY ULYSSES saves his best for wet ground & he’s pretty much guaranteed of that. Wouldn’t rule out TANNHAUSER who likes also wet ground & the 1500m trip will suit. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 15 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 LITTLE MIX is never far away from the winner’s stall & should be primed to run a big race here having finished close up at The Valley & Flemington her past couple at Group 2 & 3 level. Her best form is on damp ground & this trip is right in her wheelhouse. The lightly raced TOWNSEND has a ton of upside, bolted in fresh & that was only second-up. STOCKMAN loves wet ground, really wet ground, he may well get that here & if so, he can turn around his form very sharply. Numbers: 12 – 14 – 11 – 15 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 JEWELLERY holds a very consistent record as well as solid fresh stats & has only raced on heavy ground once for a win & soft 4 times yet to miss a placing. Trialled well should be ready to fire first up. CONFESS OUR DREAMS is flying, shooting for the hat trick here & is aided by the 3kg claim. IRON MAN on the quick back up should be kept on the safe side. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 7 – 14 Suggested Bet: JEWELLERY EACH-WAY. Market Market
