Chris Nelson’s Saturday Doomben Preview Posted on November 28, 2024November 28, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing in Brisbane on Saturday comes from Doomben & there’s rain forecast, just how much remains to be seen. Confident we can kick the day off on a winning note with the very consistent METALART who is just busting to win a race, all three outings this prep have been good particularly the last couple when drawing poor gates. Here he is with a perfect alley & he’s 4 from 4 on soft ground which suggests he’ll get through anything worse. I AM ARTIE is flying, beaten once in 7 starts this prep! Amazing stats, plenty of weight, expect him to settle close up. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet: METALART TO WIN. RACE 2 EXOTIQUE MISS takes the step up to 2000m plus here for the first time & for mine warrants an each-way ticket. Her only subpar run this prep was two back at Eagle Farm when leading, I wouldn’t expect her to find the front here however settling handy would be an advantage with a soft tempo likely. KERCHAK the toughest to beat, he’s flying & should have no issue with the rise in distance. ROGUE BEAR in the mix as well, is a winner here over this distance range. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet: EXOTIQUE MISS EACH-WAY. RACE 3 First of two country series final races this afternoon & both are complete lotteries with form from all over the state at different venues, some on sand & dirt tracks. THE HANGER CAT gets Jimmy Orman to steer from a good draw, the Muswellbrook effort two back good enough to rate a chance in this. HAN DYNASTY is decent odds for a horse who has missed a placing only 6 times from 37 starts. COAT OF ARMS is a two-time placegetter here at Doomben, which has to count for something. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 14 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 4 Good race for the youngsters. HI BARBIE is beautifully bred & lines up for her first start, she’s certainly in the right yard & bolted in a recent trial here in solid time. I’m with her to make a winning debut. Stablemate LOCKYER should take good improvement off the debut run, been back to the trials & has run well, drawn to camp right behind the speed. ICARIAN DREAM & BOMBAY BOOM both go in as live chances however note both have also accepted at Rosehill. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet: HI BARBIE TO WIN. RACE 5 Second of the country series finals is the Challenge over 1630m & once again the form is from all over the place. PICKO ROCKS is quite consistent of late, draws a decent gate & gets a ton of weight relief off the latest run at Toowoomba. 3 of his 6 wins have been over this distance range. SUNFALL keeps on running good races without winning, his turn is very close, could well be this afternoon. MOCAMBO is a winner here & gets Stanley to do the steering from the rails gate, which should enable him to take up a prominent position early on. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 13 – 8 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 Good competitive race where I’m leaning to the class runner MISS JOELENE who should appreciate the step up in distance. Although well beaten by TRANSATLANTIC last start the shape of the race worked against her with the winner able to cruise to the front & control the race. Her effort to beat all bar him was a solid one. FELIX THE SCAT placed in the Derby here last season, resumed with an authoritative win, wet form not up to much however note that Derby 3rd was on a soft (6). BROOKHAVEN looks close whilst POETIC DRAMA continues to race very well. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 7 The Listed Mode Stakes is a very competitive looking race for the fillies. The southern form of I FOUND YOU stacks up very well against the locals, although unplaced her latest down the Flemington straight during Cup Week she wasn’t far away & will no doubt derive good benefit. Maps well & handles wet ground. SURPRISE HONEY is big odds, in the top yard she won well fresh & has been back to the trials winning in slick time. I liked what JEMOMA ALPILAGE did last prep, with a soft recent home track trial under her belt she’ll be strong late. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 The Group 3 George Moore is a cracking race. Plenty depends on whether FRONT PAGE turns up or decides to stay home in NSW, he’s the main speed in a race with a fair bit of it should they all turn up. HIDDEN WEALTH doesn’t draw well however I love where he’s currently at, his form is first rate, he just keeps on improving & his lead up trial was outstanding. ROTHFIRE is just a ripper, he resumes here with a terrific first up record & from gate one is the runner who is guaranteed to get a perfect run. ZARASTRO cannot be ruled out, ditto PRINCE OF BOOM. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: HIDDEN WEALTH EACH-WAY preferred. RACE 9 The Pierata Plate for the boys is yet another competitive affair. AMAZING EAGLE had also accepted at Rosehill however connections have decided to head north & fair to say under the conditions of the race he looks very well placed. His first up Crowley win at Randwick is a superior form line to anything here, my one query though would be a heavy track. GIVE ME SPACE motored home to score here last start overcoming difficulties, suggest he now wants further however he’s showing too much potential to overlook. COSMIC FIRE was very heavily backed to win fresh, can go right on with it & run well once again. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 I’ll lean to MOON SWEEPER in this final race who was very well supported to win at the Sunshine Coast at only his second start. In a slowly run race he did hit the line ok & should appreciate the additional 200m this afternoon. APUNTAR is flying, so consistent will have no issue running the 1600m & handles all types of going. CAN’T RECALL ONE will hit the line hard whilst NOBLE DECREE would be very well placed in a maiden, still a chance here. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet: MOON SWEEPER EACH-WAY. Market Market
