Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on March 14, 2024March 14, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday gets underway with a 2yo affair. Debutante winner CAN’T RECALL ONE will go around at a short quote & it’s hard to see him being beaten as he’s likely improved with that run under the belt. He sat back last on that occasion before easing to the outside in the straight charging past the entire field to score running away, 100m further, no problems! DANCE FOR ME RANDY is going very in the north, can definitely bring that form to the big smoke & figure in the placings. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: CAN’T RECALL ONE to win. RACE 2 Although up plenty in weight I’m with DEFERENTIAL who has good form lines & looks close to a win. He carried 58kg winning an easier race two back before game running on the latest here in a stronger race with 53.5kg, will the 58kg stop him today? Well, he draws nicely suggesting he’ll land a cosy run so perhaps not. The Gollan pair GRAND METEOR & TO WISH both fare well at the gates & will secure economical runs. The newcomer NEW LEVEL a market watch. Numbers: 5 – 13 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet: DEFERENTIAL TO WIN (small bet) RACE 3 Looks a very suitable race for NAVAL TRADER third-up. His stats on this track at this distance range are very good & he drops in grade off the latest. Yes, he’ll lump a big weight however that’s the case with most runners in this race & from a reasonable draw should gain the right run. DAYMO DAYZ finally gets out beyond 1200m & as his record shows this track is much more suitable for him than Doomben, likely sharp improver. TARPS was ridden with aggression last start & bingo look what happened! Should be more of it. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 6 – 14 Suggested Bet: NAVAL TRADER TO WIN (small bet). RACE 4 These distance races are generally raffles, don’t be surprised to see a rough result. DISPUTED RIVER & OAKFIELD WALLABY supplied the quinella here 2 weeks ago & I’m suggesting they can do exactly that once again & in the same order. The former is flying having now won 3 straight, he obviously has a liking for this track & came from last at the latest so all honours. OAKFIELD WALLABY meets him 2kg better at the weights suggesting he’ll get his chance to turn the tables. CLYDE maps well, he often looks well placed however hasn’t won for some time. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 RAINBOW CONNECTION & TRIBECA STAR come out of the same last start race run at Grafton with the latter beating the former by 0.53L officially. RAINBOW CONNECTION hit the line solidly after racing wide without cover & although worse at the weights can still turn the tables. BRENTWOOD maps to gain a soft lead, that was the case last start at Doomben & it panned out that way however he couldn’t hold on, record is better across the road. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 3 selections in exotics. RACE 6 He’s a ripper SHARP DAZZLER, I can’t see any reason to take him on. He’s won 3 straight all here & arguably should have won his previous couple as well with better luck. The latest win was outstanding sitting wide without cover before unleashing in the straight & racing away to the line. NSW visitor SIDE SHOW will have admirers & is likely the only danger to SHARP DAZZLER, strong to the line his last couple 1500m & this big track will suit. TRANSATLANTIC pulled up with issues first up, likely improver from a much better draw. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: SHARP DAZZLER TO WIN. RACE 7 Wide open race this one as the early markets suggested. I’ll lean to BELLA TIVACI who has been nothing of consistent of late, she won & placed three times this distance range before down to the shorter mile trip last start finishing less than 2 lengths from the winner. This is easier & with the claim she gets in carrying no more weight. TWICE ON SUNDAY & TRIPLE MONEY in the mix as are many, many others, tread warily! Numbers: 9 – 5 – 3 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 Really like the look of PRESS LINK who made it 2 from 2 winning first up at Doomben. He cruised past the leaders & looked very strong to the line, he’ll need to take improvement from the win & likely will do just that. Wide gate sees him get back however there looks to be sufficient speed engaged to allow him his chance of running down the leaders. SPIN DOCTOR has always had wraps on him after winning a Jewel Prelude on debut, first up here he draws well & will get his chance. CAPITAL CHASE was good last start however has to deal with a wide draw today. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: PRESS LINK TO WIN. RACE 9 Found this an impossible race to sort with many of the better chances drawing wide & likely to drift back, how much start will they give away? I’ve come back to CONTEMPTUOUS who resumes & yes he can mix his form these days however with some luck early getting across he might prove hard to run down. RANCH HAND has only had the one start for Tony Gollan & he ran well, he’s one who will get back though as will the in form NORTHERN EXPRESS, can they reel in the leaders late? Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Tough way to wind up the day! WINSTON SMURFHILL can be a problem child however when he’s on he’s on & he was very much on here 2 weeks ago when leading & kicking strongly to win in good overall time. Should he cross without using too much petrol early he will again give them plenty to run down. BLAZEN BOOTS made good ground fresh, comes to hand quickly should be ready to go second-up. Not sure what to do with LADY LE DA, gut feel is she’ll win one of these soon, maybe she was too close in the run the latest? Wouldn’t be leaving her out. Numbers: 5 – 13 – 17 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
