Scott Embry’s Tuesday Broome Preview Posted on August 10, 2026August 10, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 THE TOP BAR ran third behind Zorbrist in a 58+ 1435 only three starts ago. Quite simply, runs to that level here and he’ll be really hard to beat. He’s whacking away under the big weights and he can track up leader’s back following the speedy CHANTILLY GIRL who absolutely walked in last start at Port Hedland. She led, she kicked clear and she won by a 6L margin. It was certainly a change of fortune from a mare who had looked a bit tired in her previous outings. Was reinstated into this event once the field fell away and given the lack of numbers (and depth) you can see why. SCHUHBECK is 2 from 61. Says it all. Back in distance has seen him improve recently. MAGIC SHOT hasn’t seemed to handle the dirt that well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE TOP BAR WIN Race 2 MAJESTUOSO PHOENIX has had three starts in WA: second to Now You See Me, second to Now You See Me and then last time out third behind What’s The Point. That’s all stronger form than any of these bring to the race and the way he’s going he’ll jump and run for Tiana Murray and show them a clean set of plates. Jump and run, ride him like you stole him. HELL’S CITI is coming out of dominant all the way wins at Carnarvon. He’s quick early but may be forced to breeze here outside the favourite. Makes it a tougher assignment than last start but the form has been franked with Kemberly Currency winning at his next outing. RAY’S SAUCE can park and ride the speed if he jumps. That looks position A here. FINADO must have issues, raced very sparingly. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAJESTUOSO PHOENIX WIN Race 3 DUST ASIDE was backed into odds on at his last two starts after leading and winning to break his maiden by a 6.4L margin. He jumped $1.70 and ran into X-Factor grey galloper What’s The Point who has since won again and run second in a 58+, then he finished second to Fire The Guard after carrying 59.5kg and parking wide throughout working really hard. Would love to see him step well enough to lead this because if he does he’ll take running down. LA SIGNORA DANE brings the alternate form through Port Hedland and she’s slowly and steadily improved with each run this preparation. SOLAR SYSTEM looked like he was going to break that winless streak of 1080 days for a fleeting moment last start. RULESQUE can tow ball the stablemate and that’s a nice position in running. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – DUST ASIDE WIN Race 4 SHASFA has now won her last two: a 50+ 1300m from the breeze and a 50+ 1435 from the top. This looks a winnable race for her as she all of a sudden looks to record a winning hattrick and Giaan O’Donnell is getting more and more confident in the saddle every time she steps out on the track. ROMMEL’S GODDESS doesn’t jump well enough to really take advantage of barrier 1. In hindsight she was a risk that day and yet the market was still really strong on her winning chances. Hasn’t quite been the dominance of Barton – Altieri that we’ve seen in seasons gone by but this looks a winnable race for the mare and drawn outside might just be a blessing in disguise. Bars – not ideal. STAR POWER is classy for this grade. OCEAN’S JEN won a 0 – 58 at Darwin only 4 starts back and gets big weight relief. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – SHASFA WIN Race 5 NOW YOU SEE ME is 3 from 3 undefeated at the Broome Turf Club. Led and won over 1000m by 3.5L, sat close handy over 1000m and won by just under half a length and then went to a whole new level when stepping into 70+ company and belting them at 1200m by a 5.3L margin. From that day he meets key rival Cruise To Victory on level weights and so if he can lead under the 53kg he’ll be very hard to run down. Only query is the 31 days between runs after being a late scratching when kicked 18 days ago. CRUISE TO VICTORY took full advantage of his late withdrawal at that meeting and bolted in. BORDER CONTROL is back to near his best and his best won the Sprint in 2025. GALAXY AFFAIR has been a ripper throughout his career. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – NOW YOU SEE ME WIN Race 6 FIRE THE GUARD didn’t step first-up and found himself rearwards in a face full of kickback and hurt. Second-up he stepped better, gave claiming apprentice Giaan O’Donnell a few more options and then he worked through his gears strongly late and through the line to score by nearly 3L. Should Dust Aside win Race 3 the form will look stronger and this 58+ isn’t that much deeper than the 50+ he won last time out. Rob Gulberti’s team is flying and he can extend this wonderful run they’re on. BEYOND THE WALL is a different horse when leading. Expect they’ll jump and let him stride. UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY is really good when right. The issue is – looking from the outside he hasn’t been right all prep. Market watch and the booking of Simone Altieri signals intent. DELICATE RULER has been a model of consistency. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – FIRE THE GUARD WIN Quaddie (Race 3 –6) 1,2,5 1,3,7,9 2,3,6 3 Market Market
