Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on July 15, 2026July 15, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 UNWANTED NEWS finished 4L off Bosun first-up in an extremely high rating 1300m at Northam before going within a half head of victory second-up when swamped late by Quickonmyfeet and finishing just ahead of Cape Churchill (races in a C1 Wednesday at Bunbury). Drawn to get all the favours from barrier 1 and should be able to hold up leader’s back. From there she gets her chance. WIN FOR BUSTER has been bitterly disappointing since a brilliant debut when matching motors with now Champion Fillies placed Fine Star. Since then beaten at $1.45, $1.65, $2.10 and $3.30. Another gear change and it seems like they’re confused as to whether he’s a sprinter, a stayer, a leader or a swooper. Obviously a motor there but for now, he’s lost. MYSTIC EMPRESS was really good fresh, no idea what went wrong last week? NONEOFYOURBUSINESS finished off well last start. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – UNWANTED NEWS WIN RACE 2 ENERGETIC is no star (at all) but this race lacks any real speed and any real depth to it. Think that Stevie Parnham may even be able to bounce out and lead this event and if that’s the case then he’ll be afforded every chance to pinch one. YOU CAN CALL ME Al got out to 2200m when last in work and resumes here first-up, no trial at 1200m, but some of his sprinting efforts haven’t been too bad across his career. Beaten 2L Viresha, Rock The Market and Rising Fame first-up last prep and second to Talkaway beating Midnight Star in a 1300 at Northam in his first prep. Drawn poorly, gets back – so a few negatives but this race does not run deep. DIAMOND CHOUX put in a few runs last prep that would be good enough to win this. Beaten 1.5L behind Gods Cross and Desert Waves, beaten half a length Can’t Catch Me, beating home Oscars No Grouch in the process. Just maps poorly. KENTUCKY DRIVE has been to York, Albany and Kalgoorlie and failed to win – but this race isn’t any tougher. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – ENERGETIC WIN RACE 3 LIMMOR FILOU has some mental demons (got loose on debut and put on a bucking exhibition) but she’s seemingly got a level of ability. The first-up run behind Dance on Son and American Image was better than it reads after tramping wide throughout and the second-up run behind Quickonmyfeet, Unwanted News (goes around in the opener) and Cape Churchill (races Wednesday at Bunbury in a C1) was solid. This race is even weaker than that and she should be going close. EIGHTYSEVEN LAD was very easy in betting first-up and couldn’t run down Ajicito who has since finished a moderate fifth in a C1. Straight to the top and gets the fence this time around which helps. PEMBETON is becoming frustrating. He’s been respected by the market his entire career but again flopped fresh. DANCE OF DRAGONS most recent trial was strong. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – LEMMOR FILOU WIN RACE 4 MYSTIC CHAOS has run some cheek races this prep and the most recent of them behind Cosmo Ruler (favourite in a C1 1400 at Bunbury on Wednesday) was arguably her best. In an open and even contest gets her chance to break through. SPANISH ARMADA resumed at 1300m at Northam and lead until the last 100m when gobbled up by now C1 winner Forgotten Son. Considering the way that galloper picked them up late last Thursday it’s the right form line and Jason Brown should be able to march across to at least breeze here. LET’S TAKE A CHANCE finished third on debut behind Ajicito and Eightyseven Lad (goes around in Race 3) and did meet with support late in betting ($10 into $8 WOP). Looks like he’ll get ground and keep improving. OCEAN REEF really caught the eye at odds on debut, in a race that produced impressive subsequent winner I Love Ya Money. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – MYSTIC CHAOS EACHWAY RACE 5 DELICATE WARRIOR has put three encouraging runs together in a row. Second to Market Snitz at 1200, third to Partay at 140mm and then second to Vexatious Rose at 1600m. Has drawn off the track at this last two but this time around looks destined to be kicked out to hold a spot much closer in running and is getting very close to a maiden win. RARE HONOR has been around the mark his entire career. He comes through the Articole / Cosmo Ruler race and then most recently in the same race as Delicate Ruler was held up on straightening and ended up further back than anticipated after slipping away out the gates. Going really well and always goes around eachway. ROCKING IN VEGAS ambled up to them last week at Belmont but had nothing once Taj Dyson asked him for an effort. Fraud alert. ADROIT has ability but will get a long way back. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – DELICATE WARRIOR EACHWAY RACE 6 SUPERB VINTAGE has found the ideal race third-up. She really caught the eye first-up in a C3 1200 behind Kings Drama, Triple The Chant and Conchetta’s Dream before stepping up in grade into a 3 year old 0MWLY when finishing 2.6L behind Refemme No Angel. Drops right back into a 44+ (previous winner in this grade at York) and provided they can make some ground late should be right in the finish. LOOKS will be at the other end of proceedings and is another brilliantly placed by Tommy Wolfe. C5 back to 44+ and should be able to cross Diamond Light early or at worst breeze outside of her. From either spot he’s hard to run down. BONNY ROCK is a last start 58+ winner in a 44+. That’s why these open handicap ratings races are so good! Big weight spread and lots of clashing formlines. ROCK DEE JAY rarely runs a bad race. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – SUPERB VINTAGE EACHWAY RACE 7 KING BREW was simply in the wrong race firs-tup. He was 87 days between runs, facing hist toughest test to date in a 66+ on a Saturday and was racing over 1000m for the first time in his life. Couldn’t get anywhere near the top and looked lost from start to finish. Back in grade to a more suitable C3, out in trip to far more suitable 1200m and finds a race where he should be able to march his way across into a prominent position in running. Big improver. CANTRIX is lightly raced and has a real X-Factor about her when right. She can box seat or sit three back the fence and is capable of working her way through the grades. TRUE FICTION is a model of consistency but looks like doing it tough? MISS ALTAIR was a strong WA debut and Desert Ora races Wednesday at Bunbury as favourite. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – KING BREW EACHWAY RACE 8 LEETRON was back to his best last start and won well in a C3 1200 in slick time. His prior couple of runs he featured heavily in the Stewards Report so it was no surprise to see him get the job done and hopefully now he can go on with it. BERRY BLAST was stiff not to win last week. It was a deceptive photo finish and ultimately it was one horse with a head up and one horse with a head down and that was the difference for her. Glass half full – she only got 1 point rather than 3 points and now 7 days later finds an equally winnable C3 1400. Seems like the colder you ride her, the better she’ll go. MILITARY JANE won at 200-1 when the blinkers went on for the first time and backed it up with a solid minor to Bannered. Different horse now. RUBENS CEILING is a Saturday winning 3 year old in a C3. Awkward interrupted preparation but talented horse. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – LEETRON EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,5 2,5,10 1,3,6,9 2,7,12 Market Market
