Chris Nelson’s Friday Gold Coast Preview Posted on May 23, 2025May 23, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Friday night racing on the Gold Coast where the track was rated a soft (6) this morning, an upgrade is definitely possible. The meeting is highlighted by the running of the one-million-dollar Magic Millions 2yo Classic (R3). We kick things off with an interesting looking 2yo maiden over 1400m which is going to stretch some of these to their limit distance wise. I’m leaning to (1) NOTTINGTON PRINCE who hasn’t figured in the money his past couple of starts however they have been in much stronger races than this & the latest was on a very heavy track here. His prior metro Saturday form was good enough to rate him a definite winning chance. Wary of (7) LEVERAGED BUYOUT who is in very good hands, pass mark on debut at Newcastle I wouldn’t be the least surprised to see a big improvement here. (3) MEET GEORGE rises in distance which looks a concern, should this track play leaderish though he might take some running down. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet: NOTTINGTON PRINCE EACH-WAY. RACE 2 (9) BESTOWER looks very tough to beat off a strong finishing effort here on Hollindale Stakes Day. Jockey Andrew Mallyon likely wasn’t expecting the winner Shahzad to sprint as quickly as he did & pinch a winning break, this mare chased home very well & thrashed the rest, she can go one better tonight. (11) THE IRISH is a good price this morning, should be ready to fire third run back, include in exotics. (3) AKROTIRI won well fresh & can only be further improved, stable flying. Numbers: 9 – 11 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet: BESTOWER TO WIN. RACE 3 Feature race of the night with the 2yo’s running for a cool million dollars in prizemoney. Without doubt (2) PRINCE TYCOON will start favourite & that’s fair enough on his debut Caulfield win when very heavily supported. He does draw out here which could be an issue though as there’s good speed on paper. I’m with the local filly (5) AMOSU who won on debut here during the Magic Millions Carnival, her only other start was recently when striking trouble early & settling a long last, she did make very good ground in the straight. (10) SISSTAINABLE no doubt set for this whilst (6) DRAGONNE ROUGE can’t be knocked going into the race with a 100% record. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet: AMOSU EACH-WAY. RACE 4 Two main winning chances in my opinion here being (3) SAN JOSE BOY & (5) THINK LIKE PADDY, to be honest I could go either way. At the better odds & on an each-way basis I’ll lean to the former who will strip fitter for the Eagle Farm run 16 days ago which was his first for almost a month, prior to that he was a tough grinding winner here. (5) THINK LIKE PADDY overhauled the leader to break his maiden at his first local start, up in grade & the filly he beat there has had a few chances, definitely short enough in the market tonight at around yours for theirs. (1) SAVANNAH GANGSTER perhaps best of the rest. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet: SAN JOSE BOY EACH-WAY. RACE 5 Although her winning strike rate is nothing to get excited about I’m very keen on the chances of (16) MISS BUSSLINGER in this race. Placed at Listed level three back she again tackled that company her latest when far from disgraced after enduring a wide trip. Back plenty in grade tonight she’ll carry the limit weight for leading jockey Angela Jones. (4) SCUD is generally around the money, big chance he drifts back from that gate however if they’re running on in the earlier races he’s a chance. I’ve sacked (10) FRENCH ENDEAVOUR as a betting proposition however she does get in well here at the weights with this being a Plate race. Numbers: 16 – 4 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet: MISS BUSSLINGER TO WIN. RACE 6 (7) MISTER BIANCO has been competitive in much stronger races than this & surely breaks through for an overdue win. The negative is he faced a similar set up at Ipswich last start when narrowly beaten, he’s around the $3 dollar quote this morning & should we be able to get that or better I’m happy to give him another chance. (11) NORTH OF ELI finds it very tough to win however he likes a placing & can run another one here. (13) PROVANCE a market watch fresh, comes off a recent home track trial win. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 13 – 12 Suggested Bet: MISTER BIANCO TO WIN. RACE 7 (5) TALTARNI FIELDS comes out in preference for the Sunshine Coast on Sunday where he looks very hard to beat. Stablemate (2) ACTION KING now goes on top, third-up tonight he does look extremely well placed to win on a track he’s had success at in the past. Beaten by (1) CHAKRA BOY at Eagle Farm last start they meet once again here with a decent weight turnaround in the KING’s favour. (7) ENTERPRISE LUCIA draws the inside alley & can land a good spot early, could be the right ground? (8) ARISPHERE in the mix, note her best run this prep was here first up running on, last couple have been disappointing though. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet: ACTION KING TO WIN (small bet). RACE 8 We round out the night with a good, competitive looking race where I’m sticking with the consistent (2) FIRST MAN however I’d like to see a quieter ride. Parked closer his past couple he’s beaten all bar the winner however hasn’t exactly savaged the line, three back when settling well back (wide draw) he really motored home. (8) BOROGORU keeps running on finishing just out of the placings, should they be able to make ground tonight include him. (10) MISS HIGHFAULUTIN brings the Gollan polish & appears close to a win whilst (3) GLOBAL looks well over the odds based on his debut effort. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
