Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 29, 2025April 29, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DELTASON is a galloper that every punter in WA has been waiting for to get out over further than 1000m. Unfortunately for Meryl Hayley he missed out on a run in the Karrakatta Plate by $640 in Prizemoney and now he’s forced to go straight to 1400m. He’s got proven Saturday ability and finds a winnable race. WITHOUT REMORSE put the writing on the wall on debut with a slashing minor behind Brazen Butcher. BUON AMICI worked home well enough behind him into third. WHO’S TALKING was a further 3.5L back in fifth. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DELTASON WIN RACE 2 STAR SUPREME is a maiden filly who has always shown above average ability at trials. Made her debut on a Soft7 when really well supported in betting and didn’t seem to appreciate the wet track, returned in her second prep over 1000m when closing off well into second behind Cryptic Joy in a fast run 1000. Looked sharp in her 400m jump out and this is winnable. MAIN ACT doesn’t seem to run 1400? His two runs at 1200m would see him going very close to winning this. AMARLIME won well last start but back in trip and up in weight is difficult. GASPARDO broke his maiden in style. Numbers: 11 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – STAR SUPREME WIN RACE 3 AGRABAH, JACKPOT BINGO, PARISH PRINCE and ALITTLE SCOONER all come through the Shamillian Miss maiden at Pinjarra on 16 April and there was less than 3L between the quartet. There’s very little between any of the four on ability and it all likely comes down to who gets the right run into the race. Going to side up (without any confidence or conviction) with AGRABAH because at least Shaun McGruddy can put him into the race early and trust his staying (grinding) ability. JACKPOT BINGO and ALITTLE SCOONER are relatively lightly raced and might still have some improvement. PARISH PRINCE is very one paced. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – AGRABAH WIN RACE 4 KEGGS LATER could be a handy midweek stayer in the making. He’s still getting better and stronger with each run over the distance and is now the winner of three of his last five. Has won his last two in 50+ company by a combined 5L margin and had the better of many of his key rivals in recent weeks. See no reason to jump off. MR MEGSEY will be better for the run over the trip and meets him 2kg better. DUCHEES DEMERIT wasn’t disgraced in the Albany Cup and is always competitive in this grade. HEAPS OF MOOLAH rolls along in front. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – KEGGS LATER WIN RACE 5 ROMMING DANGER is competitive from 1000m to 1400m and with a set of shades going on for the first time, with a barrier, on the fresher side without a trial off 81 days and in a race with probably too much speed (Three Grand, Mighty Hosana, Famous Dream and Ayumi) she should get her chance to gun them down late. CLOSE TALKER has weight and a wide draw but at the end of last preparation she showed a decent turn of foot when saved up for one late run. THREE GRAND was again crunched in betting at Pinjarra but missed the kick and looked lost. FAMOUS DREAM is proving an astute purchase by Tim Crosby and new connections. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROMMING DANGER WIN RACE 6 WESTERN LADY is no star but she’s back into her right grade here. Finsihed second to stablemate With Discretion in a C1 1500m three back before heading to a Natasha Stakes when not staying the trip, then back to a 60+ Graduation over 1800m when 3L off subsequent winners Fine Touch and Blazing Emerald and now gets back to a C1 1400. Sits back and winds up late. DON’T TRUST JUDAS knows how to run a minor. Frustrating animal. ZORBRIST was held up the entire last start. Watch. LIL CAPRI gets Pike and should be ready now. Numbers: 12 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – WESTERN LADY WIN RACE 7 HYMNS OF ELADDAIR won a near identical race two starts back and looks both mapped and weighted to win this. That day he ran down Dug Another Hole and meets him half a kilo better at the weights here, and last start he dropped back to an unsuitable 1200m – they’re just too sharp for him over that trip mid-prep. Back to 1400, nice draw, tracks up a solid tempo. Like the set up. DUG ANOTHER HOLE has really come of age this campaign and is one tough on speeder. PRETTY DEVINE gets a whopping 3.5kg on him from their 23 March encounter. LATE ARRIVAL has really impressed in the Great Southern since arriving in WA. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – HYMNS OF ELADDAIR WIN Market Market
