Chris Nelson’s Friday Sunshine Coast Preview Posted on March 14, 2025March 17, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Friday night racing on the Sunshine Coast where the track was posted a soft (7) at scratching time this morning. Fine looking day ahead, upgrade is definitely possible. We get the meeting underway with a 2yo maiden where the debutante BENEFITSOFMINE has come up odds on in this morning’s market. Locally trained he’s had the one home track trial cruising clear of the opposition to win comfortably, note the time was very good, faster than the open class heat. SILVER SPOON won a Deagon trial before just out of the placings the other, stable flying as is the jockey. Market leads all important the others. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 13 Suggested Bet: BENEFITSOFMINE (want black figures). RACE 2 Leaning to the Jack Bruce trained DAITANNA in what doesn’t look an overly strong maiden. Comes out of a metro affair last start when on the heels of the placegetters, although she didn’t dash to the line, she did hold her ground well & I’d suggest is now looking for the step up in distance. Keeping the Matt Hoysted debutante TEELG very safe, latest trial was his best one, the inside gate could be a help or a hindrance, hard to say at this stage. FRENCH RIVIERA in the mix whilst PEAK MISS & ARABIAN ROSE are others who should also be kept safe in the market. Numbers: 13 – 6 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet: Box up top 5 selections in exotics. RACE 3 BIG watch in this race is the Chris Waller debutante KISS THE COSMOS who hasn’t had an official lead up trial however has jumped out placing at Flemington last spring. Purchased for 250K at the Karaka sales she’s a Savabeel filly kicking off her career over 1600m, should there be money for her in the lead-up I’d suggest she’s the one to beat. INTRUDER looks close, only narrowly beaten in town last start. O’CALDINO hit the line well first up for the new yard, ex Ciaron Maher expect further improvement here. RUGBY another likely improver, stablemate to KISS THE COSMOS who made some late ground last start. Numbers: 13 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: FOLLOW ANY MARKET SUPPORT KISS THE COSMOS. RACE 4 One of those races where a surprise wouldn’t surprise! SINGER SARGENT wasn’t far away when resuming & will have improvement to come, he’s already a second up winner & will find this easier than last start (claim also a plus). HOOKS will roll along in front; the mile around here is his go & he’s even better placed on damp ground. HUSSY EMPRESS in the mix, doesn’t look far away, rises only 0.5kg on the last start effort in town when not far away. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 The lightly raced CRACKENTHORPE looks very well-placed stepping up to 1400m here. A strong finishing winner two back over 1200m he stayed at the same trip last start again running home well however just missing by a small margin. Theis is not a strong field; the claim helps & the give in the ground won’t be a concern. MISTING resumes, consistent at her first prep she’s trialled well enough to be a place chance. NOTACLUEHOWORWHO wasn’t far away fresh, his record suggests he’s prefers running placings than winning races however his second up stats are good. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: CRACKENTHORPE TO WIN. RACE 6 Keen on the chances of the resuming BATTLE OF VIENNA who is only lightly raced with plenty of upside. His first up record is a good one with the only unplaced effort being last prep when sent out over 1200m which was too far, he’s a 1000/1100m horse. Liked his soft recent home track trial win, I’d be surprised to see him run a bad race here. PLATINUM LIES likely leads, nailed to the rail should give a sight. KAT CHINNA always in the mix, slight drop in weight helps. Numbers: 7 – 13 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: BATTLE OF VIENNA TO WIN. RACE 7 JENNI MOREESE generally puts in a shocker first up which was the case again this prep however she improved plenty second time around beating all bar the winner at Eagle Farm. She ran time solid races in stronger affairs last prep & third up tonight should be starting to near her peak. No knock DIVAKA who will relish the step back up in distance, can see her saving ground before closing along the inside down the straight. SACRED BULL likely wants further now however is far from out of it. Numbers: 11 – 6 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet: JENNI MOREESE TO WIN. Market Market
