Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on January 14, 2021January 14, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 YAMATAI leaves Adam Durrant and joins the stables of Georgia Grant. Won’t see a weaker maiden than this and fresh at 1100m from the inside draw looks like getting a brilliant opportunity to open her winning account. LIQUIDITY didn’t come up last preparation but the campaign before had strong enough form to give this a big shake. Keep safe. AIN’T I A WOMAN must have some issues and quirks. Can’t trial like that and now ever show up race day. JOLLY LACE ran well last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – YAMATAI WIN RACE 2 ARSINOE is going through the grades at the rate of knots. Dropped back from 1300 to 1100m last start when fifth up in the preparation and even then looked a moral on paper. Got the job done in style. This is harder coming up into 68+ company but the way she is going she’ll go close again. HELMS GATE and ABU DHABI have been in this sort of company for 5 years and they both are racing extremely well. Both capable of beating Arsinoe. BEVEL ran well fresh and should improve. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – ARSINOE WIN RACE 3 WHEASTACK THIEF ran out of his skin on debut at 100-1. Didn’t fire a solitary shot last start. This race contains a lot of horses with exposed form who have all had their fair share of opportunities. Giving him another chance from the inside draw and could open any old price. ATLANTIC RULER is 3 months between runs and almost pinched it on debut at Albany when ridden for speed. DEVALEAR PARK is going well. Troy Turner makes a rare venture to Esperance and you would think there’s a winner hidden in his book somewhere. KENDEL’S IMPACT next best. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – WHEATSTACK THIEF WIN RACE 4 SUN POWER has been a brilliant acquisition to the Meryl Haley and now Jo Leeson yards. Really well suited to the Esperance style of racing and while he is better suited at 1300m if Hannah Fitzgerald gets him across he’ll give this a shake even at 1100. BALLADEER comes from a high rating race and does look well placed here. CITY RANSOM has been going well this preparation. Holly Watson starting to ride a few winners. Keep safe. TEMPLE MAN is tiny and does go particularly well fresh. New yard, could be an improver. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – SUN POWER WIN RACE 5 WHIM CREEK much like stablemate Balladeer in the previous comes from a high rating C2 behind Foxy Dreamer and Royal Soldier. Drops back 100m, draws a gate to get the run of the race and Ryan Hill picks up the ride. Looks a really good race for him and should go very close. SCENE TO SIN is flying but the draw makes things very hard for Craig Staples. Likely concedes them a big head start. MELODY’S SECRET looks like winning her fair share of races in the region. STAROF BONNIE ROSE brings alternate form and strong form at that. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – WHIM CREEK WIN RACE 6 ROYAL SOLDIER was given every chance last start by Lisa Staples and couldn’t hold off Foxy Dreamer who came from behind him and ran straight past. Lightly raced, progressive and improving type who looks like he is now screaming out for a mile. Sticking with him. DAVEEDO has hit a purple patch of form and with Hagley on should be right in the finish. PRINCE HAL seems to grow a leg off the back-up. Interesting to see how he goes in this. Looks like he is going well. SASSATIONAL is flying but always finds wide gates or bad luck in her races. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 13 – 7 Suggested Bet – ROYAL SOLDIER WIN RACE 7 PIRATES MISTRESS looks to have found her race. Never far from the action and looks to have come from stronger 58+ races than what she meets here. From the draw Madi Derrick should have her in the first 4 in running and after the claim looks to be very well in. Putting trust in the old mare because she rates extremely well. RAPID EYE MOVEMENT caught the eye at her return to racing. If she had drawn a gate would have been the one. Hoping we can wait one more and then launch her. OIHANA drops 4kg and comes from stronger form. Big improver. STOCKYARD GOSSIP always needs luck in her races but is always there abouts. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 11 – 13 Suggested Bet – PIRATES MISTRESS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5,9 2,4,5 1,2,7,11,13 5,6,11 Market Market
