The Everest Power Rankings: Week 2 Posted on August 28, 2019August 30, 2019 | Posted by Warren Huntly 1. Santa Ana Lane Previous Rank: 1st Last Start: April 28, The Chairman’s Sprint Prize – Sha Tin (4th) This proven Group 1 sprinter remains at the top of my list. His recent trial at Cranbourne indicates that he’s returned as good as ever and deserves his place at the top of the market. 2. Redzel Previous Rank: 2nd Last Start: April 27, Victory Stakes (2nd) The two-time The Everest champion again looks to be a serious player, based on his recent trial. He had the shades on that day and looked sharp. Peter and Paul Snowden are masters at getting their horses to peak on grand final day. 3. Classique Legend Previous Rank: 3rd Last Start: April 13, Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1st) The new kid on the block who took all before him during the Autumn. The quality of his performances indicates he will measure up in top company. I really liked his recent trial behind Sunlight; it was a real eye catcher and I can’t wait to see him return to the races. 4. Arcadia Queen Previous Rank: 4th Last Start: November 24, Kingston Town Classic (1st) Arguably one of the best horses in the country, this Western Australian star is now with Chris Waller and could be the X-Factor of this year’s Everest. A devastating Group 1 winner of the Kingston Town over 1800m as a three-year-old filly at her most recent start, her recent trial at Rosehill indicates she is coming to hand well for a spring campaign. 5. Pierata Previous Rank: 5th Last Start: April 20, All Aged Stakes (1st) This Group 1-winning sprinter, who is back for a tilt at The Everest after being retired, looks to be progressing well in preparation for his return to the track. He should be suited but what is likely to be a solid tempo in The Everest. 6. Sunlight Previous Rank: 6th Last Start: April 6, T J Smith Stakes (3rd) Champion filly that has returned in superb order. Her recent trials have been outstanding and she will be hard to beat in any race she contests en route to The Everest, where she also shapes as a leading contender. 7. Enticing Star Previous Rank: 7th Last Start: December 1, Winterbottom Stakes (2nd) Another that crossed the Nullarbor and is now with Chris Waller. Her recent barrier trial indicates she has settled in well to her new surroundings. Probably needs to go up a gear if she is to win, but there’s no denying her ability. 8. In Her Time Previous Rank: 8th Last Start: March 9, Newmarket Handicap (6th) A high-quality mare that rarely runs a bad race. Another that has looked good in recent trials. May just lack the class of some of her rivals. 9. Osborne Bulls Previous Rank: 9th Last Start: May 11, Doomben 10,000 (2nd) Victory at the elite level has eluded this talented Godolphin sprinter, but his performances suggest he is a worthy Everest contender. 10. Alizee Previous Rank: 10th Last Start: August 10, Missile Stakes (1st) Now five, her soft first-up win indicates she’s returned to racing as good as ever, possibly even better. She has the quality to make her presence felt, should she line up in the race. Will line up in Saturday’s Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield. 11. Nature Strip Previous Rank: 11th Last Start: May 11, Doomben 10,000 (4th) An incredibly fast galloper, he gives the indication he may be learning to relax a little better during his fast work. If he is able to conserve some of his energy in the early stages of his races, he is more likely to run out a strong 1200 metres. 12. Libertini Previous Rank: 12th Last Start: August 24, Silver Shadow Stakes (1st) Did her Everest chances the world of good with a stunning first up victory in near-course-record time on Saturday at Randwick. She has untapped ability and gives every indication she will rise to the very top as her career unfolds. Market Market
