Chris Nelson’s Eagle Farm Best Bets Posted on August 16, 2019 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Best Bets RACE 3 No.9 Macewen Really liked his first up run at Doomben recently when working home nicely over the concluding stages finishing a close up 3rd with 59kg. Tomorrow he drops down to 55kg and although staying at the same 1200m trip he’ll appreciate getting back to the wide open spaces of Eagle Farm which will give him plenty of time to wind up. Looks extremely hard to beat. RACE 5 No.5 Birkin Black Throw at the stumps with this Sunshine Coast trained galloper who showed plenty of grit to win his first couple of starts before a very game 3rd last run when racing wide. He was entitled to fade down the straight on that occasion however ended up finishing the race off very strongly to go down by only a small margin. Up in grade however should get a cosy run. RACE 7 No.9 Granny Red Shoes Former very smart filly who lost her way a little following a trip to Melbourne a couple of preps back. Her two starts back from a break although out of the placings suggest she might be on the road back as her closing efforts on each occasion have been strong. The latest when caught very wide was very good and the mile tomorrow may now be what she’s looking for. Quaddie 1, 4, 5, 12 1, 8, 9, 11, 13 3, 8, 11 4, 7 Market Market
