TABtouch Punter of the Week Posted on June 30, 2016July 11, 2016 | Posted by TABtouch $1 into much, much more The Quarter Finals of Euro 2016 are upon us and as the highlights keep coming from the pitch you’d be hard-pressed to beat our Punter of the Week’s effort brought about from a single dollar! When Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini scored in the 33rd minute against Spain things were looking good. But as they do, the Azzurri took their lead and sat behind the ball, defending like men possessed right up until the 90th minute. All over for our Punter of the week, surely? Not on this day – with Southampton striker (and Europe’s best head of hair) Graziano Pellè unbelievably scoring in the 91st minute. The multi was alive! It was now left to England to do what we’ve come to expect from them…disappoint their fans (and delight the rest of us) with an early exit from a major tournament. Wayne Rooney’s penalty in the 4th minute had things on track for the English against a team that started as $8.50 roughies. But an incredible burst from Iceland saw Ragnar Sigurðsson equalise just two minutes later before Kolbeinn Sigþórsson put the underdogs in front at the 18 minute mark. The rest is now history, with Iceland defending the lead for the remaining 70 minutes (a nervous time for our punter) prompting a resignation from the English manager and one of the great celebrations seen in world sport. A brilliant example of the unifying power of sport today. Absolutely spine-tingling. #ISL pic.twitter.com/7C47YEJAU7 — Jason deVos (@jasondevos) June 27, 2016 Not bad for a country with a population of just over 300,000!
