Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on March 14, 2023March 14, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 COMMODUS has a degree of tactical versatility and doesn’t look badly treated after the claim. RIVAPORT had some traffic issues but still ran well at her first Australian start. DEFINING also has traffic issues last time and looks the other winning hope. Selections: 1,2,3,5 Suggested Bet: Commodus to win Race 2 Competitive maiden. KNIFE TALK may need some luck from the outside draw but hit the line well on debut and is suited by the rise in trip. VALSPAR was held up at a crucial stage first up in a strong maiden. The form around the lightly raced seven year old STEEL MASTER is holding up well and he will make his own luck. WHISPERING LADY has jumped out nicely to resume. FAME resumes and his form around Lindermann, Dunkel and High Approach reads well. Selections: 2,6,3,10 Suggested Bet: Knife Talk each way Race 3 HELIX performed well through the strong Future Stars series and the drop back to 1300m should be no problem. RAKOMELO brings some solid NSW form and will be close to peak fitness. MADAME DU GAST will probably be better over further but has jumped out well to resume at a suitable trip. SOUTH PARADE is likely to roll forward with blinkers on. ICE PICK NICK is testing the patience but has claims. Selections: 4,6,5,2 Suggested Bet: Helix to win Race 4 Another competitive race. MISLEAD showed talent on debut and has jumped out well to resume. TEASUREWAY has run well at all her runs to date, she drops back from listed grade and the filly that beat her two runs ago won a stakes race on Adelaide Cup Day. ANGELIQUE is another that has jumped out nicely to resume. AMERICAN ZOMBIE looked sharp winning her latest jumpout. Hard to dismiss many of these in a race where there’s plenty to learn. Selections: 11,3,2,4 Suggested Bet: Mislead each way Race 5 BERRY BUBBLY has been chasing a smart one of late. Her winning strike rate is some concern but she looks well placed. SOUTH OF HOUSTON got a couple of mentions in the stewards report when beaten at a short quote after leading on debut. She has jumped out well to resume but the bar plates on the hind legs is some query. TANTO and VENETIAN LASS come through the same race, once again you’d expect Tanto to be near the speed and Venetian Lass to be strong late. Selections: 5,8,7,2 Suggested Bet: Berry Bubbly each way Race 6 MYSTERY ISLAND should have retained good residual fitness from his Perth campaign and has jumped out well since arriving back here. THREEANDFOURPENCE is fit and racing well, he should get every chance from the draw. HANAADY comes through the same race and had the race shape against her there. HASSELTOFF is another that’s racing well and might be better suited coming back to 1800m. Selections: 2,10,9,3 Suggested Bet: Mystery Island each way Race 7 If FANCYLASNKI can take advantage of a low draw she looks a strong chance in an even race. DEFIANT DIVA will strip fitter third up and drops back from stakes company in Tasmania. THERE YOU GO covered ground first up off a long break and under the circumstances ran ok. BOTANY doesn’t have a lot of early tactical speed but will be strong late. Selections: 5,2,1,4 Suggested Bet: Fancylasnski each way Race 8 TOBAYSURE ran well first up and should be suited by what appears to be a solid tempo. ASPEN COLORADO received a great rise to score last time, the drop back to 1400m may not be ideal but a solid tempo and the spacious Hillside circuit should be in his favour. It’s very even outside those two. MR MONEY BAGS has been jumping out ok and goes well here. DEEP SPEED maps for a good run just behind the speed. SHEER CLASS and NIKAU SPUR are in the mix. Selections:13,6,5,2 Suggested Bet: Tobaysure each way Market Market
