Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on April 26, 2024April 26, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 BEWS caught the eye when resuming and may settle a bit closer from a favourable draw. AWAPUNI PRINCESS will settle close to last but has been jumping out well and will be charging late. TIFFANY VALENTINE hit the line with Bews last start, so must have a case. WHITE BEAR was arguably unlucky in that race and is also in the game. Selections: 3,13,16,12 Suggested Bet: Bews to win Race 2 SMOKIN’ PRINCESS has been impressive in easier company over 1600m at Pakenham recently and gives the impression 1800m will be ok. MOYA LASS won well first up and will appreciate stepping up to this distance. ALBANIAN I AM had some excuses last time and maps to get every chance to run the trip out strongly. TOMMY did some work first up and is another that looks suited stepping up to 1800. Selections: 10,8,14,1 Suggested Bet: Smokin’ Princess each way Race 3 POUNDING has jumped out well since his encouraging return and is well suited by the SWP conditions of the race. CHARTRES ran out of room first up and maps for a soft run. FALCON OF MALTA will strip fitter second up and may push forward and control the tempo. NEW YORK HURRICANE is fit and racing well. BELLE SAVOIR and BARBIE’S FOX have some claims. Selections: 1,4,9,7 Suggested Bet: Pounding to win Race 4 PAPILLON CLUB will strip fitter third up and didn’t have the best of luck in the home straight last start. NAICONI impressed winning first up off a long break and should be improved by that victory. MEGAMEA will strip fitter for her last run and appreciate getting back to 1400m. FIRE OF ETNA is racing well and gets blinkers first time. Selections: 2,10,1,5 Suggested Bet: Papillon Club each way Race 5 BERKELEY SQUARE gets his chance to win another race under these weight conditions but it shapes as D Day for him. LET’SBEFRANKBABY ran well with a big weight second up and is also suited under this weight scale. REGAL AZMON is on trial at this trip but got a deserved change of luck last time. MAGNASPIN and KHOEKHOE are both capable of giving a sight riding the speed. Selections: 4,7,6,2 Suggested Bet: Berkeley Square to win Race 6 MODOWN is shaping as though 1600m will suit and is drawn more favourably than in the Bendigo Guineas. ELPHINSTONE comes through that race and is drawn to give another good sight. SOCKS NATION is another likely to take an on speed position and has jumped out well between runs. EUGENIUS is racing well and gives the impression 1600m will be ok. Selections: 2,6,7,1 Suggested Bet: Modown to win Race 7 GENERAL BEAU was one of a few unlucky runners in the Discovery at Yarra Valley, he’s jumped out nicely between runs and generally fires second up. WHO DARES isn’t well suited by the weight scale but has jumped out in great style and maps for a good run. REY MAGNERIO is deep into his campaign but continues to race well. THE ASTROLOGIST drops back from Group 1 company and although some of his best performances have been down the Flemington straight he races well here. Selections: 3,9,4,5 Suggested Bet: General Beau each way Same Race Multi: General Beau (Top 2) + Who Dares (Top 4) Race 8 If BOLD BASTILLE runs out 1200m strongly then she’ll likely prove too slick. LINCOLSHIRE looked good winning on debut following some impressive jumpouts and shapes as a strong danger. INDEFINITE has jumped out well to resume and appears to have improved since chasing Bold Bastille on debut. LINKVUE didn’t shirk the task of chasing Bold Bastille on debut and looks suited stepping up in distance. Selections: 8,10,6,1 Suggested Bet: Quinella/Exacta 8 & 10 Race 9 HEDGED was narrowly beaten at Group 2 level over this trip last start and maps for a good run just behind the speed. His stablemate MOBY DICK was also narrowly beaten last time. he’s got plenty of upside and will appreciate getting back to 1200m. ACID WASH is another with upside and he’s jumped out in great fashion to resume. The race appears very even outside the top three. Selections: 1,5,6,10 Suggested Bet: Hedged to win Race 10 Tough finish. SO RISQUE is racing in great form and has the early speed to potentially offset the wide draw. JIMMY THE BEAR and KING MAGNUS have both been trialling/jumping out well to resume. DEVOTED was one of a few unlucky runners in the Discovery at Yarra Valley and he’ll appreciate the rise in distance second up. STAGEMAN also comes through the Discovery and may be suited coming back to 1400m following his subsequent run in the Golden Mile. BANK MAUR was luckless in the Discovery, he gets blinkers off and should appreciate stepping up in trip from his subsequent run over 1100m. Selections: 15,2,1,9 Suggested Bet: So Risque each way Market Market
