Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 8, 2026January 8, 2026 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 LOCH TAY (1) holds the key to the race because she has the speed to lead but normally takes a sit. This is a race that she could endeavour to lead throughout but she is first-up so we’ll have to wait for pre-race interviews or the betting could tell the story. ALTA ALLURE (6) won’t be in the early bustle but is racing well and looks a strong each way chance. SWEET IVY (2) is racing well in stronger company and should be prominent throughout for this barrier. LOCH TAY (1) should be in the finish if near her best. CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (9) will need a solid tempo but can win if that does eventuate. Tips: 6 2 1 9 Suggested Bet: ALTA ALLURE (6) each way. Race 2 JASPERVELLABEACH (1) is one-dimensional but gets his chance from the pole. He led throughout three starts back and should prove hard to beat in the same role tonight. LORD TITANIUM (10) is drawn to follow the favourite throughout and shouldn’t be far away. BET ON THE RIVER (2) is racing well and could get the position behind the leader if the polemarker is extended in the early stages. PINNY NOIR (6) has had no luck in his two runs this time in (held up then flat tyre) and can improve sharply. Tips: 1 10 2 6 Suggested Bet: JASPERVELLABEACH (1) to win. Race 3 BEYOND BLING (3) crossed and took a sit when a good 2nd at Pinjarra on Monday but I’m expecting him to hold the front if he gets there tonight. He is racing well and looks the one to beat but he will be suspect in the last 50 metres if he cops any mid-race pressure. The Lindsay Harper pair of MIDDLEPAGE (6) and ELWADDELL (7) have the strength to test the favourite if they can get close to him without doing too much work. AMERICAN MONARCH (1) is likely to sit on her stablemate and can be dangerous from that position. Tips: 3 6 7 1 Suggested Bet: BEYOND BLING (3) to win. Race 4 NATHAN STREET (11) has been beaten the last four times he has started favourite and is likely to head the market again. Those defeats have all been self-inflicted so his level of trust with punters is non-existent and Gary Hall Jnr has jumped off but he definitely has the ability to win this event. SWEET COCO (9) is only marginally more reliable but she was very good when 3rd here last week and Jnr has elected to stick with her. LOUIE LEBEAU (1) is the opposite in that he doesn’t have the class of the favoured pair but does everything right and will be looking to lead throughout. SUGAR DELIGHT (6) goes up in class but will be running on. Tips: 11 9 1 6 Suggested Bet: NATHAN STREET (11) to win. Race 5 HUGOTASTIC (4) impressed in winning all four WA starts last time but obviously had problems because he hasn’t been seen at the racetrack since April. He trialled nicely for his return and looks the one to beat but he runs into race-fit opposition. BETTER ECLIPSE (9) was a good all-the-way winner before starting from a wide drawn when 2nd to Magnus Victor and he should make his presence felt again. MY WATCHLIST (10) is now living up to his early promise and has won all three starts this time in but has an awkward draw to overcome. YOURE SO FINE (7) was a brave 3rd to MY WATCHLIST (10) last week and is capable of figuring in the finish. Tips: 4 9 10 7 Suggested Bet: HUGOTASTIC (4) to win. Race 6 NORTHVIEW DANCE (9) has been placed at his last three starts and gets his chance to break back into the winners’ circle here. He can work in his races and will need to do so from the wide draw over the sprint trip. ICY COLD (8) put up a career best performance when 2nd here last week and can be in the finish again at each way odds. HI SUGA RUSH (10) has been disappointing this time in but may enjoy being driven cold here and a win wouldn’t surprise. SYNCHRONIZER (1) has options from the pole and has a good record over this distance so must be considered. Tips: 9 8 10 1 Suggested Bet: NORTHVIEW DANCE (9) to win. Race 7 LORD PUBLISHER (3) would win this event on his efforts three and four starts back but his subsequent performances have been indifferent so he must be taken on trust. FRANCO MECCA (6) has been unplaced in his last five starts but this is a significant drop in class and he looks a major player. MACHANE SAID (4) is bred to play like David Beckham but performs more like Victoria but this field suits. SMOKEYS SHADOW (5) has a short sprint and can be dangerous with the right run. Tips: 3 6 4 5 Suggested Bet: LORD PUBLISHER (3) to win. Race 8 HEEZ GOOD AS GOLD (3) led when 5th here last week and won’t have to go a lot better to be right in the finish in a race of this nature. ROCKABILITY (5) finished just behind the placegetters from a wide barrier here last week and will settle in a better position tonight. LOU LAMOUR (5) and KOOJAN (8) are younger horses with brighter futures than their rivals but both have awkward draws to overcome. Tips: 3 4 5 7 Suggested Bet: HEEZ GOOD AS GOLD (3) each way.
