Matt Young’s Friday Busselton Preview Posted on January 8, 2026January 9, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 VILLAGE DEE JAY (5) was brilliant in victory last time out and appears hard to beat again, drops in distance and goes back 10m in handicap which is never an easy task around this circuit but does look hard to beat. THREE FLAMES (3) will be benefitted dropping back to this distance and will be hunting for the top. THE PROTOTYPE (4) is racing consistently and shouldn’t be far away again. SATAN PRINCESS (2) is a novelty chance as she seems to step safely. CAPTURE THE MOMENT (6) needs a safe getaway and is mixing her form and the 30m handicaps appear challenging for FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE (7) and ASHANTI PRINCESS (8). Tips: 5 3 2 4 Suggested Bet: VILLAGE DEE JAY (5) to win. Race 2 RIPPER VIEW (8) was excellent in defeat last time out, her times were strong at a distance that doesn’t always suit her. She is 3 from 3 at this track and distance and 40m appears challenging at the short course but she is versatile and should go close. TWOHEARTONEDIAMOND (2) looks a solid chance, her form has been decent since returning. VICIOUSLY UNKIND (4) was a winner last time out and would give them something to catch if she could lead but was beaten by RIPPER VIEW (8) two starts ago and they meet on the same handicap given both have gone back 10m. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (6) needs to begin safely and stoutly, race wasn’t run to suit and still performed well. Tips: 8 2 4 6 Suggested Bet: TWOHEARTONEDIAMOND (2) each way. Race 3 EXTINCTION (6) was a brilliant run in defeat last time out, third in track record time and came from the rear and savaged the line, looks his race on paper and should get the job done. BE HOME SOON (4) could be an improver, trialled well from the stand and looks to have the high speed and ability to play a part. ALFA PRINCE (8) racing well, 50m is never an easy task but must be respected in this as a novelty chance first. RUN BOB RUN (3) was better last time out, comes in with novelty claims. Tips: 6 4 8 3 Suggested Bet: EXTINCTION (6) to win. Race 4 A DUKE TO BE (3) could be in front after a couple hundred metres and leading around Busselton should make this little bloke feel like King Kong, very hard to beat tonight. ONE FOR HAITCH (1) stepped safely but steady in a recent trial, has shown promise and could run a better race here. IDEAL WHITBY (6) has the versatility to play a part, just needs to step safely and he will be put into it. VELVET SHADOW (7) will be able to see them this week, handicapped better to see him run on and earn, consistent type. Tips: 3 1 6 7 Suggested Bet: A DUKE TO BE (3) to win. Race 5 DAWSON (7) looks far better suited tonight off 50m at the longer distance, this will give him a chance to begin and catch his breath, can be put into it and get the job done but likely to be short enough. AWAITINGINSTRUCTIONS (6) is racing well and will feature, he will be saved up and sprint home well. MASTER LEIGHTON (4) is suited in this grade and expect him to go well. IM THE BEST (8) can fly away but the distance is a concern for mine, he shattered his own track record last week at the 2030m start. HUGHEY (3) had a gear issue last time out and is a novelty chance as he is racing well but rises in grade, RAMBO RABBIT (5) also falls into novelty contention. Tips: 7 6 4 8 Suggested Bet: DAWSON (7) to win. Race 6 LUKES MISTAKE (2) was good in his most recent run and is holding a decent consistent form line, looks hard to beat here from leading or breezing. COOPER (7) has a good record from the tapes, he can either begin like a bullet or be incredibly stubborn at the start, this class suits so expecting to run well with a clean beginning. HES ROYAL BLUE (1) is a decent stand type, should be fitter and be on speed, novelty chance. ISAIDBOO (5) is consistent and BILLYJAMES (6) racing well but goes back in handicap. Tips: 2 7 1 6 Suggested Bet: LUKES MISTAKE (2) to win. Market Market
