Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on October 2, 2025October 2, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 SWEET COCO (6) impressed at her first two starts in WA but then couldn’t get into the race here last week. She is drawn better tonight and appeals as the one to beat. OFF THE CHARTS (11) hasn’t enjoyed the stands at his last two starts but has a nice trailing draw here and looks a good each way chance. OVERLY EXCITED (8) has the best form in the event and can win but he has a tough draw to overcome. BURGHLEY SHARD (2) worked too hard here on Tuesday but he will be a sharp improver if he can get to the rails in the early stages. Tips: 6 11 8 2 Suggested Bet: SWEET COCO (6) to win. Race 2 ALTA TRIBUTE (8) hasn’t lived up to his early promise but he drops in class for this assignment and this is a great chance to get back into the winners’ circle. HALE SAINT LOUIE (4) has finished 2nd at his last three and can go one better tonight if the breaks go his way. MAXIMUM ROCK (3) and ELWADDELL (2) have both been battling awkward barriers and can figure in the finish from better draws tonight. Tips: 8 4 3 2 Suggested Bet: ALTA TRIBUTE (8) to win. Race 3 BLAZE AWAY (12) has finished just behind the placegetters at his last three starts including a close-up 6th in the Pinjarra 4YO Classic on Monday. He drops considerably in class for this assignment and is capable of overcoming the back line draw. SUGAR DELIGHT (1) has only been placed in one of her five starts this time in but she looks the likely leader from the pole and should give a great sight. TRAVELBAN (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and shouldn’t be far away. SWEET LUCIFER (4) has improved at each run this time in and is working up to a win. Tips: 12 1 10 4 Suggested Bet: BLAZE AWAY (12) to win. Race 4 OTIS (1) has been unplaced in all six starts this time in but he has been racing against the likes of Magnificent Storm. He looks the likely leader from the pole and should prove hard to catch. LUSAKA (8) has the best form in the event and he will be hard to hold out at the finish. ARDENS HORIZON (7) broke back into the winners’ circle at his last start and this draw could end up working to his advantage. FLYING RUMOUR (10) is first-up so may need the run but still can be placed from his nice trailing draw. Tips: 1 8 7 10 Suggested Bet: OTIS (1) to win. Race 5 There looks to be three main chances in the WA Oaks. COPPER HEAD LADY (2) finished just behind FAKENIT (8) and BETTATHANLIFE (5) in the Daintys Daughter but she can turn the tables on those fillies if she can find the front tonight. I think BETTATHANLIFE (5) is the best horse but she has done things wrong and has had to trial twice recently to get back into this field and that isn’t an ideal preparation for such an inexperienced filly. FAKENIT (8) is the opposite as she is a seasoned pro who looks suited by the longer trip and can overcome her wide draw. The Justin Prentice pair of POPPYONTHEBEACH (1) and RUBY LOVERA (10) should enjoy soft runs on the pegs and that could be the place to be. Tips: 2 5 8 1 Suggested Bet: COPPER HEAD LADY (2) to win. Race 6 Eight horse field but what a race. I think anything apart from Princess Katie can win so don’t let me talk you out of any of the others. HEAVENLY GIPSY (5) led throughout (beating Magnificent Storm) in 1.54.7 at her last start before a break. If she can cross and if she is close to her best she will be hard to catch but there a couple of big ifs there. AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (8) resumed with a 1.54.3 win from a similar barrier and is a major player again. PENNY BLACK (7) is likely to end up in the breeze and she can fight out the finish from there. WONDERFUL TO FLY (6) will be driven softly and should be charging home if they go hard. Tips: 5 8 7 6 Suggested Bet: HEAVENLY GIPSY (5) to win. Race 7 MISTER SMARTEE (8) looked sharp when working his way to the front from a wide draw when comfortably accounting for a similar field and he can repeat the dose tonight. HOTLY PURSUED (5) was a good winner in weaker company at his last start and his gate speed gives him options at the start. CAPTAIN RAVISHING (6) led then sat on MISTER SMARTEE (6) when 2nd last start and would like to do the same but it may not be that easy tonight. SWINGBAND (7) is the other class runner of this field and will be hoping for a solid tempo. Tips: 8 5 6 7 Suggested Bet: MISTER SMARTEE (8) to win. Race 8 RAKLOU (12) was sent out a $1.20 favourite at his WA debut he was taken on in front and had to settle for 3rd. The times were very good and he is clearly the one to beat here but punters may be wary after being burnt last week. MALAKIE (8has finished 2nd at his three starts this time in and that looks a likely finishing position again. STAR LILLY (3) led when 2nd in 1.55.9 here last week and can be placed again if she can find the rail. RIPPER VIEW (1) has been placed in her last four starts and can be in the money again despite the rise in class. Tips: 12 8 3 1 Suggested Bet: RAKLOU (12) to win. Race 9 BETTOR FORTUNE (2) has impressed in winning all four starts in WA. He goes up in class tonight but should find the front and he will prove very hard to beat. CHASE ME (3) won all four starts last time in and resumed with an eye-catching 4th to Cyclone Jordy. He is very smart and would have been the favourite if he drew inside BETTOR FORTUNE (2). MAD MONDAY (1) is a notch below most of these but the draw gives him a good place chance. BELLY UP (6), TROUBADOUR (7) and LINCOLN LOU (8) all have plenty of ability but will need a solid tempo to bring them into winning calculations. Tips: 2 3 1 6 Suggested Bet: BETTOR FORTUNE (2) to win. Race 10 SKYHIGH ADDA (7) has impressed in her two race starts where she has been placed at big odds. She may not be as suited making her own luck but is still the on-top selection. SLAY QUEEN (8) has finished just behind the placegetters at her last three starts but this looks more suitable and she is the obvious danger. IN FULL FLIGHT (2) led throughout to record an upset win at her second race start and will give plenty of cheek if she finds the front. MISS BEJEWELED (5) has ability and shouldn’t be too far away. Tips: 7 8 2 5 Suggested Bet: SKYHIGH ADDA (7) to win. Market Market
