Michael Heaton’s Saturday Moora Preview Posted on October 2, 2025October 2, 2025 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 MACKWELL SMART is unplaced from 5 starts but has always shown enough at trials to be winning some races. He drops back sharply in class to a Moora Maiden and carries the same weight after the claim. MAGNIFICENT MIA was well beaten first up but if she could get somewhere near her 2YO form when 3.5L off Cleanemup and Safe Satyr she’d be hard to beat here. BILTONG BOY is a 4YO on debut and has shown some speed in his trials. Stablemate VICTORY SWEEP next best. Numbers: 1-5-6-3 Suggested Bet – MAKWELL SMART WIN RACE 2 ALL FIRED UP looks to have found his race. Ran fourth in a Belmont Maiden 2 starts back then settled a long way back and made ground in a far stronger race than this last time out. The step to 1500m and 2kg drop in weight now looks ideal. NEK MINUTE is another who tends to be slow out but he finished of well at Kalgoorlie 2 starts ago before getting held up at Toodyay last Sunday and now backs up off 6 days. HOT JELLY SHOT hasn’t shown much to date but gets winkers on and the step up in distance looks more suitable. JIMMY SEVEN has been a career maiden to date. Numbers: 2-3-6-1 Suggested Bet – ALL FIRED UP WIN RACE 3 ROYALZEL was a 3-time winner in this grade at Port Hedland prior to his freshen up and last week’s Belmont run looked like a glorified barrier trial for him in preparation for this. He gets in well after the claim and is a consistent type on the country circuit. SUPER SUNNY looks the likely leader and stuck on well enough to finish fourth to Spank Appeal last start. GUARD THE SAFE hasn’t won for 962 days but hasn’t been too far away lately and should get a soft run. WESTERN IMPACT was racing very consistently in Carnarvon prior to last start and can bounce back. Numbers: 1-3-5-4 Suggested Bet – ROYALZEL WIN RACE 4 THE COOLAKIN KING has won 4 of his past 6, including the Carnarvon Sprint at his last start. He’s flying and has the speed to get across from his outside draw. SIMPLE LOGIC returns to Meryl Hayley’s yard and has drawn ideally. He beat The Coolakin King home earlier this prep and meets him better at the weights for it. GET OUT MICK finished off powerfully to win at Mount Magnet last start, gets in with 51kg again and his earlier form is solid enough to measure up. TEABISCUIT will find this easier than recent starts and could give some cheek if he’s able to find the front. Numbers: 2-4-6-9 Suggested Bet – THE COOLAKIN KING WIN RACE 5 ILGIRO DELMONDO was no match for Capable Angel in last Sunday’s Toodyay Cup but was taking late ground off her and now Shaun O’Donnell makes his first trip to Moora to go one better in the Moora Cup. She’s won off a quick back up previously and trainer Justine Erkelens has won this race the last 2 years. LUTZ has finished second at his past 3 starts and is edging closer to a country Cup win. He got within a neck of Outspoken Lad in the Carnarvon Cup last start and is beautifully weighted after the claim. Stablemate REGINALD has already won 2 country Cups this prep, including having the scalp of King Mahuta twice, and looks the likely leader. DIVINE MERCY is an honest staying type who is rarely far from the action and is suited to this grade. Numbers: 5-4-1-3 Suggested Bet – ILGIRO DELMONDO WIN RACE 6 WISE WORDS is an honest mare in and around this grade. She’s finished in the first two at 4 of her past 7 starts, apprentice Sharni Webster knows her well and she should hold a prominent position in the run. STAR POWER drops in grade after a blowout run at Belmont last Saturday and looked good at her two north-west runs in August. She should be a nice acquisition for Tom Pike. HOBELAR resumes and won a 3YO 0MW at Ascot first up last prep. KIA ORA TATOU joins his fourth stable in 11 starts and is usually around the mark. Numbers: 1-4-2-3 Suggested Bet – WISE WORDS WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,3,4,5 2,4,6,9 1,3,4,5 1,2,4 Market Market
