Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 31, 2025July 31, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 COPY CAT QUEEN (8) showed ability in her last campaign but has come back with added strength and has won four of her five starts since resuming. She will settle at the rear here but her closing sectionals indicate she will be hard to hold out. STARLIGHT DREAM (6) couldn’t make ground behind the favourite last start but she will settle in front of her tonight and should be right in the finish. JAXS IDEAL (1) has been battling barriers this time in and can improve sharply from the pole. SWEET VIVIENNE (5) was a good all-the-way winner on Monday and will give some cheek if she can find the front. Tips: 8 6 1 5 Suggested Bet: COPY CAT QUEEN (8) to win. Race 2 BLAZE AWAY (12) has been unplaced in two starts this time in but both efforts have had merit and he looks a good each way chance in this line-up. CANDY APPLE (3) worked to the lead when a game 2nd to Twobob Cracker (who has since franked the form) and he will lead or breeze and be a strong chance under either scenario. BETTERTHAN SECRET (2) has been placed in his last four starts including a 2nd in 1.54.6 on Tuesday night and should be prominent throughout. SYNCHRONIZER (1) led throughout here three starts back and has options at the start. Tips: 12 3 2 1 Suggested Bet: BLAZE AWAY (12) each way. Race 3 MIKIS PRIDE (2) followed three victories with solid placings from the breeze in good time. He will either lead or settle handy tonight and appeals as the one to beat. CABERNEIGH (1) has the speed to lead and did record a 1.53.4 victory over the sprint trip three starts back but may take the option of sitting over the staying trip. MR FANTASTIC (10) has impressed in his two runs back from a spell and becomes a great each way prospect if the polemarker elects to hold the front. MENEMSHA (5) is first-up but is one of the few horses in this field who is proven at the distance and can’t be overlooked. Tips: 2 1 10 5 Suggested Bet: CABERNEIGH (1) each way. Race 4 MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) had to work hard first-up when running a brave 3rd to Heavenly Gipsy in 1.54.7. He will strip fitter for that effort and is clearly the one to beat but it is never easy to overcome the widest draw in a sprint event in this grade. MIGHTY RONALDO (8) won the Winter Cup two starts back and is the other class runner with the barrier advantage so must be respected. IM THE BLACK FLASH (10) will settle just behind the speed and will become a winning chance if there is a solid first lap. ALCOPONY (2) is a great place chance if he can get past the polemarker at the start. Tips: 9 8 10 2 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) to win. Race 5 A wide-open Higgins Memorial and we’ll go with CEE DEE THREE (4) at the value. He had no luck when 9th to MAJOR JAY (6) in the Bunbury Heat and the overcame a backline draw to be placed in the Narrogin qualifier. He should strip fitter again and will settle in a prominent position. MAJOR JAY (6) was a narrow but impressive winner of his heat and can control this race from the breeze. HUNT THE MAGIC (1) was only beaten a head by MAJOR JAY (6) and now has the pole draw so must be respected. ONESMARTFELLA (11) is racing well and can be in the finish at good each way odds. Tips: 4 6 1 11 Suggested Bet: CEE DEE THREE (4) each way. Race 6 INSTA GATOR (7) won two of his last three starts before going for a break and warmed up with a nice trial at Pinjarra. He is capable of working in his races and will give a great sight. NO NONEY (9) has been in the money in his last 11 starts and he has the versatility to overcome the wide barrier and fight out the finish again. MAXIMUM ROCK (5) has won his last two starts and is the best drawn of the main chances. Will be hard to beat if he finds the front. DARK EYES (11) has been racing against better fields but goes to the backline tonight. Tips: 7 9 5 11 Suggested Bet: INSTA GATOR (7) to win. Race 7 DAME VALOUR (7) has finished 1st or 2nd in four of her five starts this time in and caught the eye here last week. This isn’t a strong field and she appeals as the one to beat but she may start under the odds. OFF THE CHARTS (5) has shown plenty of ability but is first up after an eight-month absence and his recent trial win was only in moderate time. TUBBS FARQUAR (2) is back in form and will give a sight if he can cross the polemarker at the start. HEWEZ GOOD AS GOLD (11) drops in class but he shows his beat when he races close to the speed. Tips: 7 5 2 11 Suggested Bet: DAME VALOUR (7) to win. Race 8 This is not a strong field and EN PARIANT SUR (10) has the strength to be put into the race at the right time and should be thereabouts at each way odds. SUNDANCER RAINBOW (1) is better known as a sit-sprint conveyance but there will be a temptation to hold the front in this company over the sprint trip. TOMMY PRICE (8) caught the eye at big odds here on Monday and can be in the finish. MINOR CATASTROPHE (4) crossed from a wider draw in stronger company here last week and will be hard to beat if she can do that again. Tips: 10 1 8 4 Suggested Bet: EN PARIANT SUR (10) each way. Race 9 CHERRY ON THE CAKE (1) has been placed in her last two starts and will be hard to beat if she can hold up from the pole. ROAD STAR (5) has been placed in five of his past six starts and should make his presence felt again. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (10) had every chance when beaten as a $1.40 favourite at Bunbury on Tuesday but can be placed from his nice trailing draw. THEJEWELINHEREYE (2) will be fitter after two runs back from a long break and should settle in a handy position. Tips: 1 5 10 2 Suggested Bet: CHERRY ON THE CAKE (1) to win. Race 10 OUR THUNDER (2) led when nabbed late at his WA debut before running a solid 3rd to the talented Sweet Pins. He looks the likely leader here and he should prove hard to beat. IWILL NEVER KNOW (7) was a dominant winner at his last start and is capable of going forward and fighting out the finish. MY ULTIMATE KEVVIE (8) is racing consistently and looks a good place chance despite the wide draw. HEAVENLY BLISS (3) could sneak into the money if he can obtain a soft run behind the speed. Tips: 2 7 8 3 Suggested Bet: OUR THUNDER (2) to win. Market Market
