Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on July 31, 2025July 31, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MYSTERY MINUTE had three runs earlier in the season and produced a second to Dream Illusion over 1000m, second to Le Troy over 1200m and then was bitterly disappointing beaten as an even money favourite third-up. Zach Tyler has given him a 7 week freshen and now he’s back in a winnable race. FROM THE ROOFTOP had his first start on the dirt and after parking wide held onto third (beaten 5L) behind Gold Spy. THE MAN HIMSELF finished fourth in that same event right on his heels. CASINO ROYALE comes back in trip and drops 3kg after the claim. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MYSTERY MINUTE WIN RACE 2 EIN STEIN was pretty stiff last start behind Awesome Lily when left to search for runs in the home straight as a momentum animal. He rises up to 60kg here but he gains the services of Tash Faithfull and as we see week in, week out that’s worth lengths. LATHAMS WISH heads up to Carnarvon and joins Peter Daly and alongside the usual ownership suspects is Miss T.M Daly, Mr A.L Vlahos and Mr R.M Morgan – looks like a Massey Bay Prawns & Pimms Sting? Big watch. CASH FLOW will have no troubles leading. Just whether he handles the surface? TALKABOUTYOU was a back to back 1400m winner at Carnarvon last season. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – EIN STEIN WIN RACE 3 SIMPLE LOGIC has the Dirty Chai form and that’s the best form in the region. In the Minilya Sprint they went 7L faster than average F600 and 3L faster than average L600 – Dirty Chai is an elite dirt sprinter and SIMPLE LOGIC managed to hold onto second 3.25L away. General rule of thumb: horses get an extra furlong on the dirt, so no issues with 1400 and it’s Tash on. LACEVINSKY broke through for a deserved win last start and drops 3kg run to run. Logical danger. WHOS YOUR MAMA holds form once she finds it. MOORUMBINE loves running a minor. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SIMPLE LOGIC WIN RACE 4 DREAM ILLUSION has been a costly conveyance since breaking maiden status at the opening meeting of the year. Has since gone under at $2.80, $1.80, $2.10 and $3.20 so there’s a few mental scars for punters but with the luxurious Holly Nottle claim he gets 3kg off his back and can hopefully grind his way to a 1600m win. JIDDO was a solid dirt debut and appreciates the extra ground. ROSA BALLERINA is going better than it looks and now gets Kate Pateman. IMAGE OF PRO was much improved last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – DREAM ILLUSION WIN RACE 5 SHABALALA was unsuited in the pattern of the race last start. The first 1000m was run 14L slower than average and he was held up behind a wall of horses in a muddlingly run race. The winner from that point onwards was always likely to be peeling three deep (like King Mahuta did). Going really well. FELLAFROMDOWNUNDER can be his own worst enemy behind and inside the barriers. If he loads (and jumps) then he’ll be hard to hold out. TRADED CROWN gets Tash and might be able to lead them? FORBIDDEN APPLE an improver. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SHABALALA WIN RACE 6 CHEEKY CHARLOTTE comes through the Minilya Sprint behind Dirty Chai and Simple Logic – that’s the form reference that punters will be following over the coming meetings and this mare is now 64+ back to 56+ grade. Even if she’s slightly slow away she can park three deep the trip and stay away from the kickback. Big opportunity for Tiana Murray. GOLD SPY only won a maiden but gave the impression he loved the dirt. WISE WORDS and TALKING HEADS are a pair of 7 year old stablemates who are always wining chances at this level. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – CHEEKY CHARLOTTE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,3,4 1,2 2,3,5 2,4 Market Market
