Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 27, 2024December 27, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 IM SPIDERMAN (4) attempted to lead throughout when 3rd to Thelittle Master and will find this easier if he can work his way to the front in the early stages. MAJOR OVERS (6) disappointed here last week but must be considered on his previous consistent form. MAJOR FREEWAY (7) had his chance when leading here last week but this field isn’t strong and he can make his presence felt. HAVE AGO JOE (2) trialled fairly and is well drawn. Tips: 4 6 7 2 Suggested Bet: IM SPIDERMAN (4) to win. Race 2 HOLY HECKA (9) is only lightly raced and is first-up without a trial. He has the ability to win this if he is ready to go but has a wide draw to overcome so watch the betting. NAVY STREET (5) has only been placed in one of his six starts this time in but would be hard to catch if he could cross at the start. MIDDLEPAGE (3) hasn’t had much luck at his last two start but can be put into the race tonight and should make his presence felt. FRANCO MECCA (1) isn’t at his top but must be considered from the pole. Tips: 9 5 3 1 Suggested Bet: HOLY HECKA (9) to win. Race 3 NASE VIRA (8) has been very impressive in winning two of her last three starts and suffered interference at the start between those victories. This looks a slightly easier assignment and she is capable of overcoming the wide draw. SHEZA SASSY LADY (5) has won three of her last four starts and must be respected but goes up in class tonight. HEARTOFAHLIA (2) ran a nice 2nd to SHEZA SASSY LADY (5) at her last start and is drawn inside that rival tonight. XCEPTIONAL ARMA (9) is the other class runner of this field but is drawn poorly again. Tips: 8 5 2 9 Suggested Bet: NASE VIRA (8) to win. Race 4 SKYLORD (3) has been very unlucky this time in but can be driven aggressively here and appeals as the one to beat. FRANCO ECUADOR (11) hasn’t been seen for six weeks but he ran a nice 4th from the breeze in quick time at his last start and should play a part if he is ready to go. STORYTELLER (10) will need some luck but will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. REGAL CHEVAL (8) was a game 3rd here last week and will give plenty of cheek if he can cross at the start. Tips: 3 11 10 8 Suggested Bet: SKYLORD (3) to win. Race 5 OUR LADY JEN (4) has been racing consistently without winning but this is a nice assignment for her and she should give a great sight. POCKET THE CHANGE (10) has finished just behind the placegetters against stronger fields in her last three starts and should fight out the finish if she has any luck from her awkward barrier. JACKIE DANIELS (5) found the company too hot here last week but was placed in six of her previous seven starts and should be thereabouts. SECRET REACTION (3) has good early speed and can put herself in a position to be a great place chance. Tips: 4 10 5 3 Suggested Bet: OUR LADY JEN (4) to win. Race 6 LAVRA JOE (6) looked to be back to something like his best when a dominant 1.54.7 winner here last week and can now be driven to his strength. LUSAKA (2) has been placed at his past four starts and looks the obvious danger after drawing inside his main rival. HILLVIEW BONDI (1) has been unplaced in his last four starts but he grows a leg on the pegs and will be a sharp improver. GALACTIC STAR (7) will settle at the rear but will be running on if there is a strong tempo. Tips: 6 2 1 7 Suggested Bet: WHATARETHEODDS (1) to win. Race 7 MANDOWN (1) has been well-supported but unplaced in his first two starts back from a spell. He meets a moderate line-up tonight and should be winning with a safe getaway from the stand. MISTER MONTBLANC (6) ran a nice 2nd to Caliente in a similar event at his last start and looks the one capable of capitalising if the favourite does something wrong. CHEDDAR IS BETTER (2) galloped out at his last start but will be great place chance if he steps cleanly. RODASI (3) is up in class on his last start win but shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 6 2 3 Suggested Bet: MANDOWN (1) to win. Race 8 SOHO FIRESTONE (3) has finished towards the rear in his last six starts but he looks a good chance to find the front here and he will give a great sight in that role. WHATARETHEODDS (7) didn’t handle the sustained pressure when leading here last week but will be driven to his preferred sit-sprint style tonight and will be hard to hold out. HOPPYS WAY (8) is the other class runner but is first-up from a wide draw. ROCK ME OVER (2) doesn’t win too often nowadays but is still racing well enough to be placed in this event. Tips: 3 7 8 2 Suggested Bet: SOHO FIRESTONE (3) to win. Race 9 VENTURA (5) was a game 2nd in the Christmas Gift here last week and looks the one to beat over the longer distance here. SPICEY MAJOR (1) has won five of his seven starts since arriving in WA and is the obvious danger to his stablemate but may not be suited by the staying journey. DALVEY ROBYN (2) doesn’t have the class of his stablemates but follows speed well and should be in the finish. SHOWPONY (3) is unlikely to get too many favours in this event but shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 5 1 2 3 Suggested Bet: VENTURA (5) to win. Market Market
